General Discussion / I'll just leave this here...

Take it as advice

I know these 3 topics were done already but they are very old and I found some videos that can help the devs understand how they can work in game.

Body flicker technique - This video explains the Body flicker technique with some detail on how it works in the Narutoverse, I think that it makes sense and would work great in the game. Let me explain how.
(video explaining the body flicker technique)

If you watch the video it's said that the technique is mostly used for traveling and rarely in combat besides a few ninja, the most you can use it in combat for is the, "chakra dash" like in naruto games. But back to the use for traveling, let's say you are running and you wanna get like 200 meters ahead quickly, I think you should be able to hold a key with a short chargeup while running or idle (like 1-2 seconds) and then you click where you want to travel to (top of a building, land, etc).

The upside will be you get there faster, downside you loss some chakra. In combat you can just do chakra dash and something like substitution (as an ability)

Tree jumping - Ok, so today I was looking around for other games like this on Youtube. I found a few small ones, some dead, some alive but all of them have some nice features. I saw this video This is a pretty old fan made game but his ideas are not bad, the tree jumping he did is a good idea, just need some cleaning up. Other than that,  his movements are nice also. Wish I can get contact with him....

But on to explaining how it can work, basically the same as in the video but with of course better animations, icons, etc.
The travel speed will be slow-ish like in Naruto but still fast enough that it isn't annoying. Tree jumping vs ground running should have it's pro and cons.

Ground level = faster, more exposed and less noisy
Tree level = Slower (by about 10-20%), more hidden, more noisy

Let me know what you think about that.

Shadow clones - I think the shadow clones would be a good idea but this how it can work and how to balance it.
How it will work? Simple, AI. Since AI isn't near in the making of this game, this one can just be put in the files for now but I will still explain my thoughts. I found this video of this fan made Naruto game

He has shadow clones in the game so this can give us an idea on how they can work in SLO, hopefully they are FPS friendly haha. But the point is AI, once AI is in, shadow clones are possible with some good code.

When added how would they work? I think that can be activated with a "Special jutsu key" (Will explain in a seperate topic). The maximum number of clones should be 2-3 and the longer you hold the "Special jutsu key" every second a clone will be spawned, with the downside of needing to be idle.

Once spawned, each clone will take a small percentage of your chakra and they will only be alive for 15 seconds or when when killed (duh)

These are my thoughts on these topics and I want to hear what everyone thinks about it.

Thank you.

Hey it's me again, after find this game after all these years it's been out shows a lot, it shows that this game isn't being exposed as it should which is disappointing. So that means we need to do something as a community. But first to the developers, Great F-ing job my friends, this is some good work y'all are doing and I am really happy to be here (even though I can't play it yet :( )
But other than that, this is what I had in mind to help build the community and help this game grow.

1. Put all your work in one village, I know that you guys are working on the Hidden Hill village but just put all your work in there and make it enjoyable for the community, give us something to do well you work on the next update in peace. After you work on the village, start adding activities, like learning at the academy, somewhere to practice our skills/jutsus, somehwhere to eat, somewhere to hangout. It's not much but it will help build the community and get people online with something to do besides running around.

2. Post more, I am not asking to post something major but at lease post something everyday or week to show that the game is still alive, so no one will leave and forget about the game. At lease a pic or something to keep the hype up you know?

3. NPCs, this will probably be hard asf but it gives live to the world, NPC shop owners and other Shinobi in the village like, guards, teachers, etc. You can also add some that would attack when you're traveling to another village, like rouge ninjas.

But back to my main point, I know am all over the place haha.
If you can get a lot of people in one village this will be a chance to showcase what the final game will feel like. Like building teams and setting up small missions, having a Kage and display how they work, Ninja ranks, learning a jutsu and mastering the jutsu (which I think you should make very hard so they won't be spamming and you have to spend time and work hard to do these things). All of these things can help display the daily life of a Shinobi, which I think will get more people aboard.

There are so much things I want to talk about but I don't want to annoy anyone, sorry if I did but these are just some ideas.

I wish I can help but I don't do 3d modeling anymore since I don't have a gaming PC like before but I have photoshop and I am pretty good at it, I helped work on a few mods for ARMA 3, I did 3d modeling and retexturing.

Shinobi Life Online Suggestions / My suggestions for SLO
« on: December 06, 2017, 19:26:07 »
I only found this game last night and I am now in love, sadly I can't play it since I am on a Mac and my windows laptop won't turn on but I still see a lot of potential and I hope it doesn't die. But on to my suggestions

1. Gameplay over looks - I saw the older version to this game and it looked really good back then in terms of graphics and gameplay but now that you're using the Unity engine, yes it looks good but can it handle the stress down the road?
What I mean is, You plan on having 11 main villages right? So for this game to have a RPG feel these villages need to be populated, so a good number to give each village life is around 500-1000 Players, you can probably fill in some areas with NPCs, But the point is if each village have around 500-1000 players, that's 555-11000 players running around and for a game this fast paced with jutsus and fast combat, there's going to be lag. Hopefully you guys have this in mind and you can make a fix before the problem happens.

2.Skill levels - You guys probably have this done on paper but I'll still make my suggestion, I think there should be a levelling system for a lot of needed things, example: Chakra control, if your chakra control level is at 0 you won't be able to walk on water or walls and also your jutsu strength will be low and the size of the jutsu will be small (Fire breath, lightning ball, etc). also some jutsus should require a high chakra control level, like the lightning ball, if it's low and you try to do the jutsu, it will backfire causing damage. Other skill levels in mind are, throwing, medical, raw speed, chakra dash, stealth, strength, health and stamina. (I have much more ideas for this but I don't wanna take up a lot your time reading these).

3. Abilities - Some abilities I had in mind are, 1. Sensory: You can still count this is as a skill but this can be limited to certain clans or just very skilled Shinobis but what I had in mind is, having the sensory skill can let you detect surrounding enemies (the higher the skill the more enemies you can detect with perfect accuracy (number of Shinobis and village). More abilities in mind are, camouflage (blending into trees, bush, sand, etc with a icon saying that you're hidden) and Genjutsu (this one will take a lot of development so this can wait)

This is all I have in mind on this topic, sorry if it's too much or if it has been discussed already.
