If we felt like buying that.  I'm sure when the game is close to finished, the controls will be able to be changed.
Also to my knowledge, that thing doesn't create new keys, it just lets you use them in place of ones you already have, so it wouldn't make too much of a difference.

There will be an academy test in the game for which you have to pass to reach genin rank. There will be a library where you can learn about the Shinobi Life Online Universe for that test.

Calling out jutsu names is a great suggestion, although not something you'll see anytime soon.
I'm sure you could find some use of this if you hadn't already seen it (https://code.google.com/p/sharp-voice/)
That's a port of the Google Voice API, which is something used for calling.

You're probably referring to a TTS-engine. TTS wouldn't work for yelling jutsu in Japanese.
I barely looked at the link lol, sorry.  I met a guy who used it for a grammar program for children.  You're right.  I linked the wrong one.
Why wouldn't it work anyways?  I thought it was multilingual

Shinobi Life Online Questions / Re: Non Player Characters

Where did he say that's not the case?

Casual people in villages, examinators, people in scripted missions, shop clerks,... Summarized, things that players won't be willing to do/can't do will be done by NPC.

In the future we will give players the opportunity to give up on the shinobi life style and sell Ramen instead, or become a sensei.
This comment just made my day cause I was thinking about the people that really dont want to get involved into the shinobi missions too much but would rather train or just sell something. So now that I know what you have planned I can get ready for retirement after I finish with 20+ years of the shinobi lifestyle. I would love to be a sensei but i suppose you have to do some sort of training and get achievements such as jounin rank to become one right.
We would need NPC trainers and shop owners to begin with.  They would always be there, but that doesn't stop Vreg adding in the capability of someone becoming a teacher and having special commands to rank up and teach people jutsus.  It also wouldn't be too hard to have someone run a shop(assuming that more known or original players would be able to own property).
Its just something you have to let play out, it can't all be added in at once.

Hopefully you won't make it to the UFC.[/teal]
Why's that?

Shinobi Life Online Questions / Re: Names

Thats a really good idea.

Maybe for a additional uniqueness, you could have a 'hardcore' server where your characters facial features, skin tone, name, clan(if applicable) and village are chosen for you.

Shinobi Life Online Questions / Names
« on: July 02, 2014, 12:29:04 »
Pretty simple question;
Is my character required to have an Asian name?
Also, will there be a name generator (like WoW)?
-easy way to do it:
find a list of first and last names(http://www.20000-names.com/male_japanese_names.htm)
  Randomize, combine(?)
  Check pre-existing
  Show it

Shinobi Life Online Questions / Re: 1st hokages for each village

I would assume the admins would be kages for the first tenures.
They could make special characters for it that could be removed afterwards

That sounds like a good idea, and I have 2 secondary suggestion to that.
Since being a ninja requires you to be aware of your surroundings, maybe adding two hot keys to move your head only or your eyes only would be beneficial.
Also,  a third person option or an abundance of mirrors and reflective waters would be nice because I'd like to see my character every now and then.

Shinobi Life Online Suggestions / First Person(The right way)
« on: July 01, 2014, 00:31:38 »
Saw this thread http://www.shinobilifeonline.com/index.php/topic,59.0.html and I saw it got locked so I couldn't put my two cents in.
Also, sorry if I'm breaking any rules by creating this thread, I'm actually not too sure why it wasn't originally posted in the suggestions to begin with.

First person in almost any game except shooters is usually terrible and painful to use.  The only game I have ever played and used first person is Arma.  What makes Arma different is how they actually made their first person.  Instead of placing the camera somewhere in your neck and drawing a GUI, they actually put the camera directly in the models eyes, and stop there.  In Arma, you see what everyone else sees.
Arma also adds a touch of realism by letting you look around.  If you hold alt and move your mouse, your head moves.  You can look down at your chest, feet, and arms.

Third person works in Arma similarly.  Holding alt and moving your mouse allows you to move your head and look around while in third person.

Implementing a first and third person camera would be on the easier than most of the other things needed to complete this game, but it would be nice and having a realistic 1st person mode in an MMO would be a game changer.

Shinobi Life Online Suggestions / Re: F2P+perma death= hackers
« on: June 29, 2014, 20:54:33 »
Making a game "hack proof" in the sense of making it impossible to hack items into the game would be easy.  So long as the data is not stored on the client side and the database is kept updated to the latest safe version that should not be a problem.
Wall hacks, aimbots, crosshairs and extra GUI modifications should not cause too many problems in this sort of game.  These could also be prevented by pulling a Garry Newman by searching the task manager while you are playing and banning you if you have a certain process

Shinobi Life Online Questions / Rules?
« on: June 28, 2014, 08:35:47 »
I was just thinking about how situations could become ugly if a player or group of players decided to get on a nonstop slaughter.  There should be rules set in place to some how counter act it.

For example, if some powerful players came together and killed an entire village (I know its unreasonable, but possible), then the dead players would create new characters and spawn in without any defense.

Would the village just be considered ruined and disappear?

I don't like restrictions on games too much, but I don't mind seeing if anyone has any good ways to counter act some annoying things that might go on.

Thanks for reading.

Shinobi Life Online Suggestions / Re: Robbing players.Starving?
« on: June 28, 2014, 08:13:45 »
This is my first post so forgive me if I'm wrong, but
To my understanding, if you die, you die, that's  it.  If some powerful player came to me and said give me your money or I kill you, I would give him my money so that I do not have to make a new character.
