The night had passed; the event that had happened still engraved in the minds of those that witnessed it, some more than others…
Nevertheless, the festival continued. Yasei was still drunk from the night before, but it didn’t take long to find him within the tavern tent drinking strong liquors once again, boasting about his victories towards his fellow Shinobis.
Vizier was just outside the tent, wondering about the events of the previous night, when suddenly he saw a familiar face.
“Hey, Fox… Why the long face? Here, have a drink! Celebrate!”
A drink was shoved in his hands. He looked up and noticed that the man who did it was none other than Hayame, a fellow Dust Shinobi and a fellow clansman.
“Ah… Sorry Python… I’m not in the mood for drinks right now.” Vizier replied, handing the drink to someone who just happened to passed by, who thanked him in return, as the person drunkenly stumbled on.
Noticing the sudden change in behavior, Hayame insisted on Vizier telling what’s on his mind. So Vizier discussed the events from last night with him.
“I see… But who could possibly benefit from disturbing the celebratory event of peace with such an action?”, Hayame replied with utter calmness.
As they continued further, Chikai Kamakiri passed by, not remembering most of the night, luckily for her, until she overheard Hayame and Vizier talking about a murder.
She went inside and approached the bar, but each step became more heavily as she remembered more and more from last night. Depressed, she sat down next to Yasei and started to get a drink.
“Oi Yasei-chan~, why the long face~! *hiccup* Ya know, you aren’t the prettiest in here when you look like that…”, a fellow Snow Village Shinobi said to her.
She ignored her fellow Shinobi and started chugging down shots like her life depended on it.
Hisaki decided to check upon the support group send by the Forest and Hills Kages. Though the ANBUs were nowhere to be found, the medics were somewhat distraught.
“What’s the matter?”, Hisaki asked the medics.
“It’s
Kuro Akagi (Ken), one of our
Medic members, Hisaki-san. We were ambushed by bandits during our travels… He didn’t make it.”
“Damn… Seems we are short on one more medic then. Have you contacted the respective Kage?”, Hisaki replied.
“Yes sir, they should send someone else shortly with medical training along with an escort. He or she will teach someone you think can handle the training, they will return back to the village.”, one of the Medics replied.
“Good.”, Hisaki replied. “Keep me updated. I think I have someone in mind who can handle it.”
“Understood… And be careful.”, the other medic replied.
Several drinks later, Chikai’s emotions spiraled out of control, as she started to blabber about the previous night, discussing it with everyone.
People started to point fingers: Hishiro started to blame Kuria, Kuria responded by blaming Konohuro, Konohuro blamed Hishiro, and the cycle continued on and on, until it soon escalated with serious threats and people started throwing kunais and shurikens at each other.
“Oi, cut it out, all of you!”, Hayame spoke loudly as he, Vizier and a couple of other Shinobi entered the tent – they overheard it all, as some of the shinobi started to manually halt the most intimidating of the Shinobi by putting them in various joint locks.
As the ruckus died out, some people had to be treated for minor injuries, but luckily enough, there were no casualties.
As night fell, Chikai and Yasei somehow ended up in one tent, to everyone’s surprise, and shadows were seen above several tents.
As most of the tents’ fires faded, some still remained lit.
Who will fall next, what news from the ANBU? And will the new medic be able to save those injured by the assassin?
