Kai has a hidden personality which you'll only uncover once you get to know him as he opens himself up. Most of the time he has an expressionless face which leads many people to assuming he lacks emotion. In reality he is simply carefree and calm. This comes from his past and the fact that the best strategies require you to be calm. Kai is very tactical, he does not like to rely on luck or randomness, he goes into battles with a plan or puts off doing anything big until he has one unless it's to figure out anything that will help him beat his opponent, for example weaknesses.
Once you uncover Kai you'll find his mischievousness and curiosity. In non-serious battles he will solely rely on tricks to win, making a fool of his opponent. He has a nose for sniffing out trouble and interesting occurrences. Playing detective is one of the few things he likes to do. He observes a lot of things, noting the useful, for his mental database. Part 1:
Born to rogues who abandoned him to chase their own selfish and cruel desires in the shadows of this wretched world Kaeiro Kirishima lived a lonesome childhood consumed by a bundle of death and pain which would horrify even the pits of Hell.
[Old Kai]: This is the story of me, Kai. The story of someone who lost everything and yet, gained just as much. The child who would later become the 'Pyromancer', 'King' and the 'Grim reaper'.
Forced to live in the confinements of an orphanage full of rejected beings like him Kai finally found people he could relate to after being shunned from the outside world. Strangers turned to friends, and friends turned to family. Family which took care of and loved each other. For the first time in his life, Kai experienced joy, protection and love.
[Old Kai]: As a great man once said, 'All things must end sooner or later' ,to me, it seemed fate had chosen the sooner option, and with that, came the unbearable pain of life. Politics, I've always hated it [Smiles sadly]
All sorts of firepower flew towards the isolated orphanage on the outskirts of the village. Nothing remained, except for one kid. One, truly damaged, kid. Standing on the rubble's of what had been his one true joy in this life, his family, burning with it.
[Old Kai]: 'Pyromancer'...they called me. As if I had caused the Hell around me. I did not care however. I only cared about the pain raging through every crevice of my body.
Part 2:
[Old Kai]: I was on the verge of falling into the depths of darkness until I found him, he showed me a light. A light which was brighter and bigger than the rest. He gave me a reason, and I followed that reason until the very end. [Smiles]
Learning to hunt and make shelter Kai thrived in the great wildernesses of the world. Jumping from land to land he befriended many creatures and learned valuable skills. Never did he see another human, nor ever craved civilization. His mind still troubled, but kept at bay by the wonders of the natural world.
One day however, stumbling across an injured chakra beast spurred him, fuelled by arrogance and curiosity, to attack the humongous monstrosity. Crushing Kai with its overwhelming power it left him for dead and carried on its journey to survive.
[Old Kai]: I can still remember the pain, [shivers] that was the day i learned of the power of a chakra beast. Their strength, speed, stamna and intelligence are matched by no one.
The whispers of fate sung out that day. As he lay bleeding to death, an old man happened to chance by him. It was a meeting destined by fate. Healing the foolish young Kai he took him into his abode. This man, an exiled Kirishima elder possessing both wisdom and power. The key to fixing Kai.
Years passed, Kai still in the care of his now fatherly figure. Though rejecting the very thought of teaching him to fight. He taught him the history of all life, the philosophy of the greatest minds to have ever lived, but most of all, a reason. A reason to live through pain, tragedy, sorrow. A reason to overcome them.
Kai inherited many characteristics from him, his mischievousness, joy in life and strive to survive.
[Old Kai]: 'To change you must act, to act you must believe and to believe you must see', words of a great man. After that I ventured out into civilization, 'twas the first step. 'King' they called me, I had overcome the wilderness and gained the respect of its creatures. King of the wilderness, it had a nice ring to it.
