Shinobi Life Online News & Announcements / Community Q&A Questions
« on: March 19, 2016, 16:00:53 »
It's that time again my fellow Shinobi! As March comes to a close and spring coming into full swing the team of SLO has decided it'd be nice to bring back an enjoyed event from the past, the Live Stream Q&A.

There are still things to be done and plans to be arranged, such as the exact date (April 2nd), who will be participating - hopefully some new Devs, it's always nice for the community to know the creators and not just us curators - and a few other tasks. However, this also gives you guys quite some time to ask those burning questions no one has asked or to re-ask that one question you just aren't sure about.

The format will be retained from the last Q&A, but for those of you who weren't with us then or if you've forgotten the simple rules (with one addition), here they are:
  • Reply to this thread or pm me.
  • Only reply/pm me questions, and try to minimize them.

That's it. Get those cogs in motion and ask away! I'll be updating this post as the date and other factors solidify.

Edit: Thank you Vipto for bringing this to my attention. Don't be afraid too much of your spelling and/or grammatical mistakes. Also, the exact date has been determined - April 2nd, 2016.

General Discussion / What do you play outside SLO?
« on: October 12, 2015, 01:01:12 »
This thread has two purposes:

To find out what you play outside of SLO, and who you can now play it with.

Just list the games that you play.

I'll go first:
League of Legends
Counter Strike: Global Offensive
World of Warcraft (occasionally)
Guild Wars 2 (Just started)
H1Z1

That's all I can think of at the moment aside from lots of school related things.

General Discussion / The Ballad of Ella - Rewritten
« on: October 02, 2015, 01:08:29 »
This is my novel recreation of "The Ballad of Ella".
I will be updating this almost everyday, and you will be able to find the most recent update by finding the bolded word.
The characters in the story are slightly weird. Bear with it. It's extremely good.
Feel free to criticize and leave comments, they're always welcome.
Enjoy!

The Ballad of Ella
This happened ten years ago. I was 19 at the time - a freshman in college. I was seemingly alone when I first enrolled, but to my relief a high school friend, Pete, had admitted to the same college. Because you’re away from family, your high school life behind, the new freedom you have in this new life can get hectic. During these chaotic times, everyone needs a friend that they can lean on for support: they they can depend on. We were that kind of friend to each other.

After several months of rooming together, Pete and I were practically brothers, and in turn, we pretty much attended the same classes. So, by the time second semester had rolled around, we decided to start a new class, economics or some shit. On the first day of this new class, a student had walked in late. My head did the natural human response, and started to turn towards the door. It got stuck. It was an automatic reaction, my vision getting sucked to her. Almost like she was a black hole sucking in light, my eyes. A high powered magnet to metal. Pete and I must have saw her at the same time because we wanted, and tried, to point her out to each other, but we were powerless. We couldn’t look away. That was the true definition of tunnel-vision.

She held the attention of the entire class. It had gone lifeless. The only two sounds were her feet shuffling across the floor - a quiet, elegant sound - and the resonating dripping noise that came from the constant drooling. An angel? A beam of light? I don’t know how to describe because words are at a loss. To us mere mortals, a value of 10 or under is assigned, determining beauty, but her beauty could not be calculated or properly abstracted by numbers. The moment you saw her, you knew that you shouldn’t stare. Not because of the social ethics, morals, and confinement, but because you simply knew that you just weren’t worthy… Not for her. But Pete and I kept staring. We couldn’t look away. Her aura of beauty and magnificence drawing us back in over and over. We contributed our fair share of resonance. For the remainder of class, Pete and I just stared her down, studying all of her features. She was a tall beauty, easily 5’9”. Long, wavy, auburn hair coupled with a pair of gorgeous emerald eyes that were to die for, maybe even kill for. A flawless skin complexion, like what you see in photo-shopped ads, with a slight tan - an attraction that every man on campus fantasized about, and made straight females ready to convert.

After class had finished, we instinctively began orbiting her like some janky asteroids around a black hole. We slowly kept getting closer and closer, clumsily bumping into each other. With our thoughts completely erased as we stood in the hallway leading to the cafeteria, she turned around. For whatever reason, I don’t know. Maybe she heard a sound, or felt our eyes beating on her back and realized that we were following her like pervs. Either way, she stopped in the middle of the hall and turned toward us. As it was happening, Pete and I awkwardly bumped into each other as if it were some comedy skit. Her beauty was so mesmerizing that we forgot to look away. Her emerald green-eyed gaze blew our brains out, painting the walls and floor behind us with brainmatter… And then she smiled - she fucking smiled! We froze: couldn’t breath. I swear, if we weren’t healthy and fit, we would have had a heart attack right there. I could sense my thought process completely shut down as she turned and continued on her way to the cafeteria. Pete and I stood there, watching as our black hole rounded the corner, leaving us lonely space debris in the cold, pitch black space.

After school, we went back to our dorm. We had no information: no name, no nothing. I began searching up women with emerald eyes and auburn hair, but to no avail. None came even remotely close to her beauty. I felt hopeless. A longing that I’ve never felt before. Pete, on the other hand, knew that he had to do something. He, too, was frantically searching before he screamed.

“FUCK YEAH! I FOUND IT!” At first, my heart soared, I thought he had found “her”. This was not the case. When I looked over, all I saw were at least a thousand tabs of “amazon” and “ebay”; all of these shopping and fashion sites we both had no clue about. Then I saw what Pete had found, the unknown brand skirt she was wearing. Surprisingly, I wasn’t disappointed - I couldn’t be. I felt the same way Pete did. I was pumped up and as joyful as a little kid on Christmas morning. We might not have found her name, but fuck it if we didn’t know the skirt she wore. With my new enthusiasm, I jumped back to work and together we created a list of everything she had worn. We knew what flats she wore, her shirt, even the brand of her red, bow shaped hair clip. By the end of the night, I probably knew more about the clothes she was wearing than her. At that moment, even though Pete and I  were mildly handsome, athletic gentlemen, we were more homosexual than a male fashion design student wearing pink dungarees, coming out of the closet singing YMCA.

Midway through another week of us ogling over her, Pete had an epiphany. He realized that in order for him to even talk to her, let alone date her, he needed something extra. An umph. That’s when it came to him:

“I’m going to start learning everything there is to know about fashion, and then use my new found knowledge as a conversation starter.” I had somewhat ignored what Pete had said because I was too busy believing how if I went to Mars on some new Apollo mission, or saved the entire world from a new Nazi regime, I still wouldn’t be able to impress her. I was hopeless.

That very morning Pete went and enrolled into a fashion design class. He didn’t know if his plan would work - if the magnificent creature would talk fashion with him - but he was determined. However, at the time, we still couldn’t talk to her. We were like kids afraid of Freddy or Jason. Fortuitously enough, we ended up learning her name through a friend. Ella. Her name was Ella.

Learning her name gave Pete hope, as well as an opener, and because our first impressions were that of two stupid perverts left alone in the middle of the hall; Pete didn’t want to waste time. However, Pete still couldn’t talk to her, he didn’t have the courage, and being a chump I followed in suit. I thought, “if Pete can’t talk to her, how can I?” Besides, Pete was so focused on his goal, he ended up knowing more about fashion than seniors knew about economy in our department. He spent weeks browsing fashion blogs all night, bringing home a list of what Ella wore that day, studying her taste in fashion - which was amazing. Compared to a lot of girls on campus who dressed like trailer trash, she dressed to perfection everyday. Our room was stashed full of Vogue and GQ, all types of fashion magazines. Not wanting out secret to get out, once, a few friends had caught wind of our stock, forcing Pete and I to lie and claim it as “top-notch material”. Fortunately, they bought the lie, and we ended up joking about it.

One morning, Pete turned towards me: dead serious.

“I’m ready…” His voice trailed off and I was positive that he was nervous as hell. Nevertheless, that morning Pete made up his mind, and he believed that he had enough knowledge in his arsenal to hold an intelligent conversation about whatever Ella wore that day. As we were walking to our economics class, Pete had this stone-hard look etched on his face as if he were mentally preparing himself for a deadly battle. After class, we walked together up until the a new hall conjoined with ours forming a “T” shape. We stopped momentarily and checked to make sure that the coast was crystal clear - tumbleweeds and crickets. I gave Pete a hearty, manly handshake, the one where you grab the forearm. We nodded, then departed. No words were spoken, but there certainly was a lot said.

I was relaxing in our dorm, listening to my music while playing some classic video games: really living life. It must have been an hour or so after our silent splitting when Pete had crept into the dorm. His face seemed neutral, as though he were in a deep thought.

“How did it go?” I asked in a quiet voice, prepared for the worst.

“I… I don’t know, I really just don’t even know man. I mean… I might have done great or completely fucked it all up.” Pete spoke in a cauldron of emotions. It was obvious that he doubted himself, but in his doubt was a dash of both hope and sadness. Mixed messages: I didn’t know how to respond, so I resorted to the basics.

            “Why?”

“Look. We talked for an hour -”

“Shit man, that’s great.” He made a loud grunting noise as he ran his finger through his hair.

“UGH! I don’t know?! What if she thinks I’m gay?” I couldn’t help but chuckle. He had a point. Straight men tend to not talk about anything fashion related, especially women's fashion. Suddenly, there was a gentle, rhythmical knock on the door. Since I had been sitting for almost two hours, I lept at the opportunity to stretch my leg muscles. Pete was in the kitchen when I answered the door - we had a pretty small, rectangular kitchen area that was directly to the left of the door when you walked in, and since the door pulled inwards and to the right, it blocked the kitchen almost completely from sight. I remember where Pete was because as I pulled the door open I glanced towards him. As I turned to see who it was, I got bottom up processed. My body froze almost immediately when I saw who was there.

“Hey Pete!” She spoke in a slight crackly, deep voice, somewhat like Scarlett Johansson. I tried to savour her voice, like an elegant, high-end entree, but it was abruptly interrupted by Pete's choking.

“Ahem… Uh, h-hey Ella.” He struggled to produce a voice. Recovering from his drowning, nerves? Who knows?

“I had just remembered, I got it from Anthropologie.” I was stuck between them, frozen, while Ella peered into our dorm next to me talking to Pete about something I had no clue about. I was lost in thought, happy that we had cleaned our dorm a few days ago, happy that she was so close to me - I could smell her hair. Something like lavender.

            “Oh, thanks!”

“Don’t mention it. It’s from last season though, so I don’t think you can buy it for your sister. Although, they might have something similar.”

“Alright, well… Um, thanks for telling me.”

“You’re welcome Pete. See you around.”

“See ya Ella.” He cooed in response, ending the conversation. Ella backed out of dorm, giving me a slight nod before she skipped away. It took me a moment to rev back to life. I walked over to the counter and stole Pete’s drink.

“Dude… Your sister is seven…” I shot Pete a questioning look.

“Yeah, I know…” We stood there, elbows pressed against the counter top. A long pause hung in the air like a sheet of glass before I let out a sigh, shattering it.

             “Damn, she is -”

“Magnificent… I know.” Pete cut me off as we shuffled over to the couch, grabbing the controllers.

A week had passed when Pete had his second brilliant plan. In order to not look like a gay couple, Pete advised that we create some sort of handshake to show Ella that we were just friends. So, like idiots, we stayed up all night concocting the best complex, yet subtle, handshake. While perfecting our performance, Pete continued to chat Ella up. He was afraid, however, of becoming a gay best friend, losing all chance the date her. So, the night before our execution, he told me to approach them around noon in the cafeteria. I was to casually walk up and “apply” the handshake, clearing all heterosexual doubt. Or so we thought.

Around noon the next day, I joined them in the cafeteria. As I walked towards their table, Pete and I made eye contact. He excused himself like a true gentleman, and we clasped hands right next to the table - it had begun. Our handshake was total bullshit. Hands flying everywhere, fists bumping, fingers clicking - it was the douche version of cirque du soleil. About half way through, this handshake was so long that it required an interlude, Ella started laughing her ass off. We froze. I glanced over at him; looked pale as fuck, all the blood drained away from his face. We both realized how incredibly hard we just fucked up, but we forced ourselves to face Ella. She was trying her hardest to become silent, but she just couldn’t hold back her laughter. My mind immediately shifted gears and I started looking around to see if anyone else had witnessed our sideshow. Thanks to the great gods, everyone else had been preoccupied with school work, food or conversation, although they were now staring due to Ella’s hysterical laughter. For an unknown reason, my mind went into some kind of 3rd person point of view, and I began replaying our performance. I started to crack up, too. Infact, I laughed so much, I was forced to take a seat and catch my breath. Pete had slinked into the chair next to mine and fortunately people resumed whatever they were doing before.

“Guys… I know you’re not gay.” Ella spoke, but she giggled a little afterwards. Pete looked as though he shit his pants: his face was red, jaw clenched. I stretched my arm out towards Ella and she firmly grasped my hand, leading into a shake. With a slight friendly smile, I spoke:

“Hey, name’s Clark.” She substituted a curtsy with a slight head nod, like at our dorm, as she replied.

            “Hello Clark, I’m Ella.”

            “Nice to meet you Ella.”

“The pleasure is all mine.” Her voice seemed to have awoken Pete from his petrified state because by the time she finished her first word he was back to normal - or at least as normal as he could have been.

“So, how long did you guys practice your stupid handshake?” Ella questioned. We started to blush, like a couple of embarrassed children.

“All night…” Pete answered meekly. She clapped her hands together over her mouth in an attempt to cloak her giggling.

“I knew it!” She started waving her index finger at us, “you guys are insecure!” Pete grumbled slightly as he tried to think of a retort, but Ella wouldn’t let him. “Ooohhhh, that’s too cute.” She put on an adorable face, pouting her glorious pink lips at us. “Well, I know you’re not gay… but, you two are definitely homophobic.”

“Wha-... No we’re not…” My defensive attempt was futile.

“Oh, it’s okay Clark.” She smiled at me as she finished,” I understand that feeling.” At this point, Pete had to of lost his mind because he was just sitting there like a lifeless corpse. “Oh come on Pete, I know you’d feel uneasy talking fashion with me.” His face morphed into shock.

            “B-but…” Pete tried to speak.

“It’s ok Pete. I can sense that you have been working on “fashion” for quite some time now.” She threw up finger quotes. Pete looked flabbergasted.

“How -” Ella stopped him from continuing.

“I know about your stash of fashion magazines.”

            “What. How’d you know?”

“I have my sources.” Ella giggled slightly before winking at Pete. I was smitten… we both were. “Seriously though, I have a friend in Pete’s class. Also, your friends were joking about your stash and I overheard.” Pete shook his head, eyes glued to his twiddling thumbs. “... but most of all, Pete, I can see that you are new to the fashion world.”

“Where did I go wrong?” Pete’s voice was meek again, losing hope.

“A fashionista…” She put her finger to her lip, humming quietly. “Mmm… A fashionista must look more fashionable. Don’t you think?” Ella was correct. Granted, Pete didn’t walk around in dad sandals, a plain tee and baggy sweat pants, but he certainly was not a fashion icon. “Besides, your fashion sense has no context: a person who is deeply involved in any subject always speaks from the heart - in some form of context.” As Ella continued on about Pete’s failure, I couldn’t help but feel both sad and extremely intrigued. I grew up in an environment where there weren’t a lot of smart women, or maybe I’m just sexist, but I’ll be damned if this amazing woman wasn’t smart. Ella must have noticed Pete shrinking because she ceased her vocal soliloquy. “Hey, Pete… I know why you did it all; it’s nothing to be ashamed of.” Pete came back to life like someone pumped him full of adrenaline and dopamine . Pete finally looked back up, great timing because Ella had just tilted her head slightly, her hair sliding over - I was lost. Melted. “So, I’m going to give you the chance! Go ahead, ask.” Her voice resonated through my head, and I started thinking of a million questions to ask, but my fantasy was short-lived.

“A-a-a-a-ask what?” Pete’s stammering shattered my illusion, dragging me back to reality. She continued to tilt her head as she raised her eyebrows. She pursed her lips, giving off a scornful look. Pete regained his composure again and he cleared his throat. “Do you want to grab a cup of coffee with me after school?” Ella smiled at him, playfully nodding.

“I would love that Pete.” She spoke in a gentle voice accompanied by a quiet chuckle. Meanwhile, I sat there struggling to veer myself away from asking “can I come, too?” To me, Ella is beyond words, and I feel stupid and powerless whenever I am near her. Pete let out a massive sigh after finally getting the green-light from Ella. I couldn’t even imagine being in his place right now, and even though I hate to admit it I was a little jealous. All three of us sat, talking for an hour or so, but even if it were only for a short time, I got to know her, so I took this little victory, this amazing, but short, experience, and headed back to the dorm.

Shinobi Life Online Suggestions / Fan Made Concept Art!
« on: May 23, 2015, 01:20:52 »
Alright, the time has come! Thank you @dragon6624 for coming up with this magnificent idea.

What is this post?
Simple. This is a post to inform the community that we are now accepting fan-made art of equipment, as well as clothing.

Rules:
First off, there are a few simple rules that you, as a participant, must abide by when drawing your very own idea.
- Each drawing MUST stay true to the theme of SLO.
- Each drawing MUST be original: Inspiration and plagiarism are completely different things.
- DO NOT submit "troll" drawings. This includes pictures -- Keep the submissions hand or virtually drawn.

What is the task?
Not every single one of us has amazing talent in the field of art, so this is your chance to assist the creation of SLO by creating your own concept art. Simple enough, we are challenging you all to create your dream items that you wish to have in the Shinobi Life Online world. By following the rules above, and the directions below, your submissions have the possibility to be added to the DeathMatch, and even the final version of SLO!

How do I submit my drawings?
Submitting your drawings is as easy as simply sending them to EternalEyes via Private Message.

General Information:
Here are a few things that need to be noted:
- Not each and every drawing submitted will be looked at. (Maybe eventually).
- EternalEyes will begin touching up/re-drawing your drawings starting June 22nd due to various reasons.
- EternalEyes will be evaluating submitted drawings very thoroughly, and if deemed appropriate, he will touch up and edit the drawings. This means he is improving, and possibly tweaking submitted drawings.

Thanks again to Dragon for coming up with the idea, and to EternalEyes for accepting it. Last but not least, thank you all who participate, and good luck!

Shinobi Life Online News & Announcements / SLO Stream!
« on: February 10, 2015, 20:58:09 »
Here's a good ol' post informing you all about the future SLO Live Streams on the current SLO channel (Here)!

When will these streams be?

We will have weekly streams every Saturday. The stream will begin around 18:00 GMT (1 pm Eastern Standard Time) and hopefully last at the very least a few hours.

What will you guys be streaming?

Great question! What will be streamed varies, and bends to the schedule of the SLO Team. The main goal is to help get you guys hyped by showing our Developers in act, however life is life and in so, schedules change. To counter this, on days where the Developers cannot stream, other members of the SLO team (Like myself) will live stream playing various games with either other team members, or some of you.

That is all for now! Remember to go to the twitch channel (Here) and follow. This will help both the channel, as well as remind you when we go live. If you have any ideas on what we should stream, please leave a reply below.

Thank you ~ Xen

Shinobi Life Online News & Announcements / Community Q&A
« on: February 01, 2015, 23:47:20 »
Q: Will there only be a single server (type), and will it be Hardcore?
A: There will be a single server type, and this will be a mix between normal and hardcore. This means that the best of both worlds will be implemented like perma-death (only in certain zones and players will be notified when entering such a zone).

Q: Will SLO allow characters to have a different eye color for each eye?
A: No, there will not be an option in the character selection. However, premium members will have the option to change their eye color(s) once per character (This means you can have two different colors).

Q: Will becoming rogue before reaching the rank of Jonin prohibit you from getting two chakra natures if and when you do become Jonin?
A: Becoming a rogue ninja before you reach the official rank of Jonin will not prohibit you from getting your second chakra nature. However, once you become a rogue ninja you are stuck with that official title. Exams are required for you to gain the newer, better title and since you are a rogue you may not take the exam inside a village. Note: As a rogue ninja, your ELO may still rise much higher above Genin, but you will not become Jonin.

Q: How many jutsus do you expect to have in the full/final release?
A: The main goal for the final release is to have 20 jutsu/skills per skill tree. (Genjutsu, Ninjutsu, etc.)

Q: Will you continue to add jutsus to the game after the full/final release?
A: Of course.

Q: Will the NPCs that teach players jutsus be out in the open for all to use, or will they be hidden with a reward (Like teaching the jutsu) if a player finds them?
A: There won't be NPCs that -teach- jutsu, rather there will be public shops where you may buy scrolls to learn new jutsu. Also, there will be scrolls hidden throughout the map in hidden places for you to explore and learn new jutsu. These scrolls, in terms of rarity/power, vary.

Q: Will Genjutsu be implemented in the game? If so, will the Genjutsu be a full skill tree, or will the skills only be slight illusions etc. in order to CC your opponent?
A: It will. Genjutsu will be a full skill tree consisting of only CC skills. This means that no Genjutsu jutsu will cause damage, rather it will cause vision impairments, slows, snares, etc.

Q: Has the team began working on the Taijutsu mechanics?
A: No, the mechanics haven't really been planned out yet, but Taijutsu will be dynamic with combos, like Ninjutsu with seals.

Q: What will players be able to customize in the character creation? Deathmatch and Final release?
A: The goal is to have a good, but very minimal, amount of character creation options like hair color, hair style, skin tone, eye color etc. The final release, however, will be much more intricate and in-depth.

Q: Will armor/weapons paid for with real money have stats/attributes associated with them?
A: They will, however players in game will still have the opportunity to have an equally strong weapon. SLO will be mostly based off of skill.

Q: If one cannot/does not sell armor and/or weapons then how will this player make money? What are some ways?
A: Players who cannot/do not sell armor and/or weapons have the ability to make money by doing missions for their villages and the NPCs. As well as doing things for other players.

Q: Will you add "Dark Chakra" into SLO?
A: No...

Q: Will the game be based off of your skill (training to get stats) or gear based (gear gives stats)
A: SLO is based off of skill level, so you will need to train to get stats. I.E: Running to increase speed and stamina.

Q: Will players be using points for their upgrades, or will the skills automatically update? (Do players choose their stats to level up?)
A: The upgrades are directly linked to what the players do. You won't -choose- what to upgrade since there won't be an overall -level-, rather upgrades will come as players continue to play and train specific attributes. I.E: Running for speed and stamina, continuing to do jutsu to increase hand-sign speed and the strength of said jutsu.

Q; Will there be a jutsu like the "Altering Terrain Technique" in SLO? (A jutsu that uses a scroll to alter terrain by drawing on it.)
A: Hopefully in the future there will be jutsu like this.

Q; How large will the SLO world truly be?
A: Massive. Multiple times the size of the DayZ map.

Q: Will there be hidden locations -like secret passages, hidden temples/buildings/caves- that players can find and explore?
A: Yes. Players will be able to explore the SLO world and all its massive glory, become the treasure hunters you were born to be.

Q: How many buildings will players be able to walk in/interact with both inside main villages, as well as in small towns/villages?
A: The end goal is to have all buildings interactable. Of course, this includes having buildings instanced.

Q: Will random NPCs have the ability to generate random quests/missions?
A:  Village AI's will give out missions at random times. (Scripted missions ranging from simple, easy ones to complex, hard ones.)

Q; What will the profession system be like?  (If there is a profession system ---> Will SLO players have the ability to choose multiple professions?)  Example given: Star Wars: Galaxies
A: Players will be able to be Shinobi, Kages, Ramen sellers, travelers, merchants, etc. However, as far as the mechanics go for officially identifying players is unknown as of now.

Q: How complex will the shuriken jutsu be?
A: They will be pretty complex. Full physics will be used, along with thought process. Force, aim, angles, etc. will be put into account. when using shuriken jutsu, as well as shuriken in general.

Q: Will players be able to combine/overlap shuriken with their own chakra?
A: Players will be able to combine regular chakra with shuriken, as far as nature chakra (Lightning, wind, etc) this has not yet been determined. Combining with regular chakra will of course have it's advantages over plain shuriken.

Q: Will players be able to use transformation jutsu?
A: Undetermined.

Q: Will players be able to loot and/or pickpocket the bodies (both dead and alive) of other players?
A: Yes, players will be able to loot defeated/dead bodies. End goal is to allow pick-pocketing on live, conscious players, but this runs the risk of being caught.

Q: How long will dead bodies stay on the ground before disappearing "decomposing"?
A: Somewhere between a few hours to a full day.

Q: Before a dead body disappears, will other players be able to interact with said body?
A: They will be able to inspect the dead body, and being able to drag bodies will most likely be implemented into SLO.

Q: Will players have to use a specific jutsu in order to rank/level that jutsu up?
A: Using a specific jutsu rank that jutsu up, but will also contribute slightly to similar jutsu. I.E: If you use fire breath, you will be training that specific jutsu, but this training will also be considered training for the extremely similar fire ball jutsu. Granted, the experience gone into fire ball jutsu is still undetermined. However, two completely different jutsu will not contribute to each other.

Q: Will players be able to summon - If so, will players be able to make contracts with different creatures (IE: dog/cat)?
A: Summoning will most likely be in SLO, but as to how much/what players will be able to summon is still in undetermined.

Q: Will there be sensory type jutsu in SLO?
A: Yes. There will be an entire technique tree of its own allowing for players to make sensory type their specialty.

Q: Will weights be implemented in SLO?
A: They'll make you slower, lose stamina quicker, etc, but once you take them off you will be given a temporary "buff" that will increase your speed. They will also give a slight bonus of experience gained in strength/stamina/speed, etc. dependent on your training.

Q: Will the speed limit be removed if one trains with weights?
A: The speed limit will be increased, but it will not go above inhumane speeds no matter what.

Q: How realistic will the gameplay really be?
A: As realistic as possible.

Q: Will players be able to put their clans/org logos on their own clothing?
A: Yes, but other players will be able to steal clan/org logos from others since it's not possible to prevent this from happening.

Q: Will putting clan/org logos cost real life money? (If yes, will leaders be able to sell clothing of their clan/org to other players for paying for the clothing?)
A: Premium members will be the only ones with this option, so yes, it will cost real life money (for the premium membership). Leaders will also be able to sell their clothing to other players.

Q: Will the Monk, Samurai and Drunken Fist Taijutsu village still be in the game?
A: Maybe a samurai villages, but this will only be introduced later. Maybe.

Q: If/when will SLO Virtual Reality be released?
A: It will be released, but when is unknown.

Q: Will there be both private and public training grounds? (For private training: Will friends be able to train privately together?)
A: This will be an option. There will be both separate instances for public and private.

Q: Will there be safe zones outside main villages, like towns and other small villages?
A: Every place outside of the perma-death zones is considered a safe zone, however within these safe zones you can still be "defeated". This includes inside main villages. If two people are fighting, one can still be put to a low amount of health or chakra causing them to be defeated. It's up to the police force or bystanders to stop the brawl!

Q: Will players be able to visit other villages safely?
A: There are perma-death zones in between them, so it won't be completely safe. It will take time to travel, but it will be pretty safe. You could always beg for your life via mic since there will be voice communication.

Q: Will players have the opportunity to become a "cop" ninja?
A: There will be a police force for players to fulfill their life long dream. There will be NPC police, but this is dependent on the amount of player police. If there are no player police on, then NPC police will be up, but if there are enough player police online and playing then there will be no NPC police.

Q: How will war work in SLO? (Attack villages whenever?)
A: How war will work in SLO is still being planned at the moment.

Q: How will the Dojutsu in SLO work?
A: Mainly as a KG, but KG's have not yet been designed so this is unknown. However, they will give players support, like attacking quicker, better defense, etc.

Q: How will the Kenjutsu mechanics work?
A: Similar to Mount and Blade.

Q: What will the variations of transportation be?
A: Walking/running to your destination. Otherwise horses will be in SLO for land travel and boats for the sea!

Q: How will boats work? (Like boats/zeppelins in WoW?)
A: They will not work like in WoW. Rather than going through an instance and being teleported/moved to the other port, players will have to sit on the boat and wait as it travels across the sea. Why make boat travel instant when you'd have to take time going across the land?

Q: How will rogue bases work? (Instanced?)
A: Rogue bases will be instanced, yes.

Q: Will owners of buildings/bases be able to edit/modify as well as select the locations? (Will owners be able to add people to the "ownership" and also edit?)
A: They will be able to share ownership, allowing others to edit the inside as well, but players will not get to choose any location for their rogue base.

Q: Will there be evil NPCs?
A: There won't be evil rogue AI's, but there will be wild animals trying to survive.

Q: What will the ranking system be like and how will it work?
A: The ranking system will be based off of ELO. As you play SLO and defeat or are defeated in battle, your ELO will change accordingly. When your ELO reaches a certain amount, if you are not a rogue ninja, you will be asked to take an exam. Upon passing the exam you will be given a new rank. I.E: Genin --> Chunin, and Chunin --> Jonin.

Q: Will there be animations for simple tasks such as opening and rearranging items in a player's inventory or trading?
A: There will be animations for simple tasks, but these would come much later.

Q: Will jutsu react with each other with animations when they come into contact? (Stone walls breaking, steam from water and fire, etc.)
A: Yes, jutsu will react with each other. Water and fire will put each other out, and air and fire will create a larger fire.

Q: How will blocking work for both distance and close quarter fighting? (Jutsu, kunai, swords, etc.)
A: Blocking is going to become a skill, however the mechanics for blocking haven't been started yet.

Q: Will there be a glossary/index of Jutsu that will tell you how to use and what they do?
A: The jutsu that you have mastered will be clearly presented in your tree, but the ones you don't know you will need to buy and read scrolls, etc. The tree's will be the glossary/index.

Q: How will Medical nin check to see if someone is dead or alive (unconscious)?
A: If a player isn't completely covered you will be able to check their status/health. As a later goal, players who are near death or badly injured they will show signs, like blood spatters, etc. Kunai and others will stay stuck in the players body.

Q: What are the chances of getting a Kekkei Genkai?
A: Extremely low.

Q: What are the chances of getting a Chakra Mix?
A: High than getting a KG. 1-500 players will get a Chakra Mix.

Q: On the current map of SLO, what are the white islands/iles on the top and bottom left corners?
A: They will be in the game, but they'll be deserted. They won't have a continuous purpose, but maybe there will be events.

Shinobi Life Online Discussion / Game modes
« on: October 26, 2014, 16:50:49 »
Alright nerds. Vreg said yesterday "If you have any ideas for game modes post them on the forums" so in an effort to stop you nerds from spamming threads just post them here.

My idea--

Name:

Description: It's a game with Shuriken/Kunai. It's based off those nerd fair games where you shoot pebbles or whatever at moving targets. Instead, the projectile is a kunai/shuriken  (doesn't really matter), and the targets are moving. Over time, as you get further into the game, that targets become more difficult to hit; changing paths, quicker speeds, smaller objects, distance increases.
You could do both free for all, teams, 1v1. It doesn't matter, but in order to win you have to hit the most targets/get the most points.

A spin-off of this would be a simple kunai dart-esque game. You could either use a legit dart board or one of the body shaped things they have a gun ranges. W/ a dart board you can make it as close as you want to the actual game (There are many game-modes within the actual dart game), or with the body one you can make it to where the closer you are to fatal locations i.e the throat, heart, etc. the more points you get.

Shinobi Life Online Suggestions / Promoting!
« on: September 09, 2014, 03:57:40 »
A simple idea here:

Why not create a twitch channel or something to allow some people to live stream games and such?

I'm sure there are some people out there who can stream some pretty interesting gameplay-

Me and my friend along with who ever can easily promote Shinobi Life Online while providing entertainment ^^

Shinobi Life Online Suggestions / Name tags.
« on: July 09, 2014, 19:19:48 »
I assume that there will be some sort of name tag thing over characters, but I feel as though there shouldn't be. Over NPCs sure, but not for players. My reasoning for this would be because, if you are a rouge ninja in the Bingo Book, you're probably being hunted by someone, and village probably know that you're evil and need to be taken down. The Bingo Book will have your name and picture, so if everyone has a nametag over them or wherever, then if you walk into a village with your face covered and clothes changed or something, you will still be attacked because they can see your name tag.

Solution: Give players a chat command or key which upon use will make them be 'recognizable' to the single ninja they are looking at. By this I mean that the ninja they are looking at will now be able to see their name, and will recognize them.

What it would do: It would eliminate the BS knowledge of things people shouldn't know. If a rouge ninja walks into a village covered up, no one should know, unless they have seen the rouge ninja change into these clothes, that he is a rouge ninja, or know who he is. Think about spies-- If a spy is working and there are name-tags all the time, someone can simply think "Oh I saw that name on a shinobi working for a different village" boom spy is dead. It eliminates these kinds of BS kills/knowledge and yea.

Shinobi Life Online Suggestions / Event characters.
« on: July 09, 2014, 07:09:37 »
Alright, I am nerdy and have played on RP servers for different games, like Fallout New Vegas. Events occur and there have been Event Characters for the sole purpose to create one bad ass, entertaining event.

Madara-
Don't scold me by saying 'Use Madara in the game!' because that is not essentially what I am saying. What I am saying is to do the same thing you are doing with the first village of the game, make a similar/based off character of Madara, Back to bolds to get this across. When you make a character based of Madara, it is an event character. This character, and possibly others depending if this is a good idea or not, should be created and played only by people like Vreg. Being an event character, he will only be played probably once and for a major, and I mean major event. The purpose for this is to spice things up and create one awesome experience.Madara is an extremely over powered character and completely demolishes everyone and everything, so I would understand why this idea would be discarded. Hear me out. If you cast aside the idea because I used Madara as an example, he is just an example. Please consider this idea, I feel as though it would throw everyone off if out of the blue, an un-human like ninja appears and starts kicking ass and taking names. It would change everything for the time being, people would have to band together, it would just simply make things more extreme and intense and fun. Right, the purpose for Madara the event character. So let's say Vreg decides it's time to change the day and creates a really powerful ninja, and go and begins assault on a village. Being powerful, it would force the village to think of how to handle him, would they send some ninja to go handle him? Would they wait for him to attack head on? What will they do and how will they do it? What will happen to the people outside the village walls? Who knows.

Also, maybe the team creates a band of rouge ninjas for an event and decides to attack a random village. That forces that village to react, it makes jobs like patrolling, if there is such one, important, it adds to the importance of a Kage and of high ranking, respected Shinobi.

Please note that I am thinking further ahead with a large player base and what not. In the future, events like these would really enhance the experience and make the game way more fun and exciting, at least that's what I think.

I did a poor job of explaining the events, but I hope it will suffice and give you guys the gist of my idea. I hope this hasn't been addressed or spoken of prior, and if it has, my apologies.

A solution for the dilemma of how people are going to choose whether or not to kill someone after a battle would be to put the chat box to use.
For instance, let's say that I am a rouge ninja on the run due to a bounty and two shinobi have caught me, cue fighting music. We fight and fight and fight, assuming I am strong, eventually I manage to I guess knock one of them out, or however you guys decide to go about doing that. Anyways, one of them is out of the fight, knocked out over by a tree. It is now a one v one, and I somehow manage to repeat the process and defeat the second opponent.

Now, if you guys some how can use the chat box to display a message saying something along the lines of "You have defeated <player> in combat, you have <number> minutes to decide what to do!", then below that give them some chat command to decide to let them live, or have two keys, 1 being live another being death. This way nothing will appear out of nowhere and inhibit you from fighting, and if you can you can easily push the button and decide. Granted, there is the possibility of mistakes, but then you have the chat command to compensate. The time limit also adds to the realism, because if you don't kill someone, and they aren't bleeding out or something along those lines, like if it is just a KO, they won't be out cold forever. Thus, if the victor forgets about someone, then they will be awoken on the same spot, but in a weakened state. Adding to that idea, if you are defeated in battle, your screen should go black or goto something else that way if you do manage to come-to, it'd be like you were knocked out in real life, you wouldn't know where everyone is or what's happened. Also lol, I just keep rambling, if possible to make it realistic, if you guys decide to add the knock out thing, if you come-to after the time limit has expired, your screen should be a little fuzzy or something. Meh, just some ideas and thoughts.

If you need anything clarified or have an questions, feel free to ask! ^^
