there's a secret code in here at some point could be useful if u want to harass me one day

27 October
Yoake Hill
1900 Hours

Izumi huffed up the last meters of the gravel, arriving to the explosion site. A few boulders were strewn around the area, and in the fading sunlight, he could see two bodies lying in the debris, unmoving.

As the medic got closer, he realized instantly that one of the shinobi, wearing a Hidden Thunder ANBU  uniform, was dead and had been dead for a while already. His legs had been messily separated from his body, and their grisly remains lay in different pieces around him. However, upon closer inspection, Izumi noticed that the stumps had already been half-healed.

Confused, he wondered if another Iryo Buntai member had come around here, of if perhaps the dead man's' teammate had tried to save him.

Izumi guessed the former, since he did not know of any Iryo Buntai medic also in the area.

Also, there was the question of what had caused this death.

Izumi guessed an alercation between ninja from different villages. If his theory was true, it could have very deep and grave repercussions in the politics of the land: the political situation was currently unstable and the Thunder, although generally not an extremely belligerent nation, was not to be reckoned with.

Izumi took a deep breath as he weighed in all of these things, and looked for and removed the man's ID tag. Hidden Thunder, ANBU captain, Itachi Kasumigake. ID code: BD0DHADAIE.

The medic then hurried over to the next body, which was more lightly injured and appeared to be sleeping. His right leg was damaged from the knee down. This shinobi too, was from the Hidden Thunder Shinobi, but according to uniform, seemed to be of lower rank. The young man had flowing grey hair, and an attractive, cherubic face. Izumi gently woke him up.

First fear, then a look of relief went through the shinobis' face, as he recognized the Iryo Buntai patch. He tried to sit up: "I need to send a report to my officer, as fast as possible! What time is it? How is Itachi?" The ANBU exclaimed.

"Easy there", responded Izumi gravely. "It's about nightfall." The leader of Iryo Buntai took a deep breath. "Unfortunately, your team member did not .... make it."

Even after all these years healing people, Izumi hated breaking this type of news to people, and watching the confusion and despair on their face as he told them the news. He also knew that he was often hated, irrationally, as the bearer of the awful news.

"I suggest you rest while I take care of your wound and I submit a report to your officer. Just tell me what you want to say."

Juke slowly brought his head back down, his eyes teary, trying to find his words. If only he had seen the trap... things could have been so different..... But he was an ANBU now. Time to be professional. Chasing the dark thoughts from his mind, he took a deep breath and steeled himself. "My name is Jukahira Yamakazi, Hidden Thunder ANBU, and Itachi and I were..... "

Hidden Volcano Village
1850 Hours

Chikaze paced up and down his office, his head full of conflicting and unrelated thoughts. Ever since he had had to become the new elder of the village, his life had been absolute chaos. One one side, there was the search for Sareko, and on the other, the economic challenges the village was facing. Of course, there was also the tense state of diplomatic relations with the Hidden Inferno. If only Sareko could only come back, thought Chikaze desperately.

He grabbed his hair and and leaned against the wall, taking deep breaths to calm himself. There was no use in thinking about things he had little power over.

He was so worried about the reaction that the villagers would have if they found out the truth. After all, it had now been 29 days since the ex-elder had mysteriously disappeared, and some might be suspecting that he wasn't just "on vacation" now. And if Sareko was to never come back, Chikaze was afraid that he would never be able to fill the shoes of his predecessors as well as Sareko had.

Knock, knock.

"Yes? Come in!" Chikaze answered, trying to keep his voice from wavering.

His new assistant of a month, Aki, rushed in. "Sir, I have some news coming from one of our friends in the Hidden Hill"! Chikaze nodded. In this setting, the word "friend" referred to spies and undercover agents. "Go on, Aki." "Our friend saw smoke in the distance from his camp, and decided to get closer to it, seeing as it seemed to be coming from the border, and saw what seemed like a crater carved out of a hill. He then saw two shinobi in Hidden Thunder ANBU uniform approach the area. According to our friend, they were both injured by minor blasts and were rendered incapable of movement. Then a while later, he saw .... he saw....." Aki hesitated. "He saw a dark-skinned man in dark and red robes go up to the crater, try to interact with the fallen Thunder ANBU, and then go into the hill."  Aki stopped there, and looked apprehensively at his superior.

Chikaze had frozen in place. He could feel chills in his spine. Could that dark-skinned man have been Sareko?  "Aki, was our... friend able to confirm from which village this dark-skinned man was from?" "No, sir".

Chikaze breathed in, his mind racing. Aki was the only person in the village apart from him who knew about Sarekos' disappearance and it was obvious that he suspected the dark-skinned man mentioned in these intel reports to be him.

"What happened after that, Aki?" Chikaze inquired.

"That's when our friend sent the message. Right now, he is on standby awaiting orders. What do we say, sir?"

Chikaze sat down heavily, wondering what he should do. He had no proof that the dark skinned man mentioned was Sareko, none what so ever. In fact, the chance that it was him was slim. And it was much too brash to send in a team now, in a zone far away from his own nation. Plus, it seemed the Thunder was involved. Right now, it was better to withhold this intel and  sell it later on if something happened.

"Tell our kind friend to stay in place, Aki and to watch. Tell him not to get any closer or farther way than he is already. Understood?"

Aki looked taken aback, and looked like he was about to say something.

"Understood?" Repeated Chikaze, more forcefully.
"Yes, sir" answered Aki, and turned around and he walked swiftly out of the room.

Inside Yoake Hill
1910 Hours

Sareko Akaihono struggled to his feet, his mind and eyes clouded. Barely 30 meters after having defeated his opponent, he had felt weak, and had collapsed the ground, and was just now recovering consciousness. It felt like hours had gone by.

Quick! He needed to hurry and secure his power before anyone else came down to investigate!

Sareko shuffled down the hall towards the ever growing glow. He tried to remember what had just happened, but he had more and more trouble remembering. Wait, had he been in a fight? He felt injured. Yes, yes, someone had come down here to try and kill him, yes, he had had to defend himself, right.

Whatever, all this thinking was making Sareko feel tired. The glow was getting stronger and stronger.
He felt an almost kinetic pull towards the glow, as if there was a hook in his left shoulder pulling him forwards. Every step he took, he felt stronger.

He was now within eyesight of his goal! Sareko felt euphoric, as power steadily flowed into his body. He started running towards the bright light.

Then, Sareko Akaihono stopped. He had arrived. In front of him, was a lake of lava, the heat coming off of it so strongly he could feel his i own hairs being singed. And in the center of this lake, connected by a narrow land bridge, on a pedestal, was a rock. It was a dark, brown rock, very different from the rocks around it.

It beckoned to Sareko.

He knew what to do. He sprinted across the passageway, faster than he had ever sprinted before, stopped in front of the rock, and without hesitating, placed his hand on the brown rock and dug his fingers into it. "It actually has the consistance of mud..." Sareko was able to think, before the world was upended.

A convulsion shook Sareko's body. The underlying feeling he had felt, ever since blowing a hole into the hill, finally crystallized in that moment. A burst of pure power entered the Hidden Volcano shinobis' body so fast that all his muscles painfully clenched, making his very joints grind.

Suddenly, Sareko felt a spark in his mind, almost as if another entity was there, but then it was gone, followed by another blast of power to his body. His body felt lighter with each blast, and each breath he took felt ice-cold. Several blasts of power kept coming, as the shinobi kept gripping the mud, not letting go. One final, extremely powerful pulse of power went through Sareko so intensely that he fell to the ground.

Sareko breathed heavily, recovering. His vision felt clear, and he could see in the places which used to be too dark for his eyes, and could hear the bubbling of the lava even better than before. And the sizzling sound as the leather of his left shoe burnt off his foot.

His left foot was in the lava.

Sareko didn't even bother taking it out, for he knew it wouldn't do anything to him.

He was invulnerable.

He looked down at his hand, and saw with surprise that some of the brown mud was embedded in his hand, and was now glowing a deep red. The rest of the substance was still on its pedestal. This was the stuff of wonders.

Sareko got up to his feet, and walked across the lava back to the hall. He didn't even bother taking the bridge. His shoes burnt off, but they were useless anyways. As Sareko arrived to the other side, he suddenly thought that people were probably going to come down and try and steal this power that was rightfully his. "Well, just let them try!" Sareko thought.

And then a new idea crossed his mind. "After I give them a good beating, I'll share some of it with them, since I'm so nice." He thought, contented.

Sareko Akaihono, now surely the most powerful shinobi in the whole region, sat down on the rock and waited for opponents to arrive.

O THE END

I know I have been focusing on some characters a lot, but a bunch of new ones are coming don't worry, and these guys won't r around the whole story either so don't worry.

Chapter 4
Heeeellloooo everyone. Welcome to your first fight scene.  And this will not be the is not the last one lol. Please submit any criticism and feedback you have about it! I need that!!!
 DIVE RIGHT IN
In Yoake Hill
1646 Hours

Diamond Himitsu Lee sprinted down the stairs, the red glow getting stronger. He was feeling another chakra more and more.

This was it! He had caught up! He felt adrenaline rushing through his system.

Suddenly he saw someone. He could only see half of a body, but he seemed to be a man.

Lee decided he would try to avoid a fight. He slowly walked down the stairs, deciding what do say.

If it came down to a fight, he was at a disadvantage: his chakra was at about 45 % from the medical jutsus he had performed.

••••••••

The dark-skinned man heard the steps stop, then start again, slowly. He did not wish to kill an innocent person, but he would defeat anyone that came in his path. He had to do it not only for himself but for all he people he felt he was carrying within him, such as his best friend and his sensei.

However, for the fight, he would be at a disadvantage: he was down to about 30% chakra from those two jutsu he had used to destroy the rock.

He had to strike first.

He turned around and ran down the  remaining stairs.
•••••••••••

Diamond Lee picked up his pace as the man ran, probably upon having detected him. Where was he going? Why was he even in this strange and unknown temple?

As he started to catch up to the man, the pursued suddenly stopped running, and Diamond realized why.

They were at the bottom of the stairs, and it opened into a hall of epic proportions: there were burning torches, which was what was emmiting the glow. These burned purple, probably from some kind of age-old secret jutsu. The ceiling was too high too see, as darkness eat into the light from above. Stone pillars supported the room. The room also was seemingly endlessly wide. This was a stark contrast from the cramped and low ceilinged stairs and tunnel.

A shuriken whizzed through the air towards Lee.

He whipped out of his state of  observation, and quickly dodged the projectile. "Hey! I don't want a fight! Why are you here? Are you the one who set those traps?" The reply came back:  "I don't wish for a fight either. Just go back up there and forget you ever saw anything!" "Not gonna happen!" Lee retorted. "Plus, do you think I'm the only one who knows about this? The Thunder's already sent a team, and I'm sure all the other neighboring nations all know by now! Just explain yourself! You had no right to kill and injure shinobi from a village who's nation owns part of this hill!"

•••••••••

"So I killed them, huh. that's a pity," thought the man, genuinely feeling sorry. "Some pretty bad Thunder shinobi, they must have been, to fall for such an obvious trap. Probably weren't ANBU."

For a second, he felt uncertainty. Should he continue? The information was probably right, everything about it so far was accurate, but he did not enjoy taking innocent lives.

However, he regained his resolve as he thought of all those who had already been killed by the broken political system in place. "For the greater good, I must obtain this power. And once I have it, I see no reason why I should kill anyone. I just need to fix things." He reached into his pouch for another batch of kunai.

"I can kill you, and will not hesitate to do so! You have a few seconds before I attack!" He said, trying to sound as tough as he could. Well, he was tough, after all.

•••••••

"Damn, is this really going to be a fight?" Lee thought. Then, two shuriken whizzed towards him. He dodged both, then reluctantly decided to fight. He would just incapacitate his opponent, then figure out what was going on.

•••••••

"I'll just incapacitate this man, then go to my power." Thought the dark-skinned man, pulling out five kunai.

•••••••••

Diamond Lee hopped down to the floor of the hall, as five kunai came his way. "Well, if this is going to be a fight, then might as well try out that new move." Lee leaned to the side to dodge the first, knocked aside the second with the metal plating on the back of his gloves, and steadied his breath. He had practiced this move for over 10 months, and yet he did not fully master it. He might have trouble with it in these low-light situations, but he could felt confident he could pull it off. He had three tries. As he focused his breathing, all went silent around him, and time seemed to slow down.He hopped to the side just as the next kunai came close, and, "just NOW!" jerked his hand up with one finger extended.
And failed.

His finger bounced off the hilt of the kunai, not going into the ring at the end like he had hoped. The kunai clattered a few steps away, useless. "DAFUQ?" Just as Lee turned around, the fourth kunai painfully lodged itself into his side, blood spurting. "Ow! Concentrate, Lee!" Diamond told himself, knocking the weapon out of his side with the back of his hand. His opponent was quite good at shurikenjutsu. His aim was on point.

As the last kunai of the batch whistled through the air, Lee was determined not to fail this time. He bent his knees, put his right arm behind his back, and jerked his left up, index extended.

"Yes!" The finger went right through the hole. Lee quickly spun on one foot, extending his arm to the side as he went, his right arm still behind his back, so that he looked like a waiter serving a dish. A deadly dish.
He jerked his hand at the right time, opening his hand palm up, after having rotated 180 degrees, his back facing his attacker. The kunai flew through the air on the way back to its sender with more momentum than it had come, aimed right at the man's chest.

••••••
The dark-skinned man barely had time to jump to the side, as the kunai grazed the side of his shirt, drawing blood, surprised by the adventurous move his attacker had pulled off. "Unpredictable, more of an all-rounder, probably about chunin level" was his first analysis of Diamond Lee.

He quickly had to revise it though, as the attacker moved towards him with surprising speed, and began engaging him with quick and sharp Taijutsu. He battered the dark-skinned man with a flurry of blows from both legs and hands, acrobatically jumping and flipping in order for his flawless offense to provide to him a flawless defense. The dark-skinned man parried with difficulty. "Unpredictable, an offensive type, very good at Taijutsu, perhaps better overall than I thought. I have to get some distance between us so I can use some Katon." He analyzed.

Although the dark-skinned man was quite proficient a Taijutsu, and had learned quite a bit, Diamond Lee was just a notch better than him in that discipline.

Lee launched a roundhouse kick with his left at the dark-skinned man, who blocked it with his forearm and retaliated with a punch. Lee easily dodged it and attempted a double sweep to make his opponent fall, but his movement was hindered by the wound at his side. The dark-skinned man easily hopped over the sweep, pulling out a kunai, which Diamond Lee knocked out of his hand as he flew back to his feet. Lee then followed through with a head butt, shoulder hit, and uppercut, which the dark-skinned man parried with difficulty.

He needed to be able to use Katon if he wanted to win this fight. He wasn't going to defeat this opponent in Taijutsu, it had become clear.

The dark-skinned man leaped backwards, getting chakra ready.

••••••••••••

"I really can't keep this up for long, my chakra's really low and I'm not even using the Flaming Fist. If I'm not able to neutralize him by using Tai, I'll have to use another strategy." Thought Lee. As the unknown man leaped backwards, Diamond wondered what to do next. "He doesn't seem confortable with Taijutsu, so I need to use that. He's jumping away, so he must be a long-range type. I could try and use some fire-style jutsu, but I really don't have much chakra for it. I need to stick close to him." Lee sprinted towards his ennemy just as he lifted both index fingers to his mouth and took in a deep breath. "Oh-Uh..." Lee took a flying leap to the side as a roaring wave of fire washed over where he had been instants before. He struggled to his knees, his left side singed. "Another Fire-Style user, huh"... "Damn it!" Lee was in trouble here.

•••••••••••••

"I can't let him come close to me with that Taijutsu again, I don't know if I'll be able to resist.... But my Katon seems to work quite well against him. I need to stay long range...." the dark-skinned man strategized.

He shuffled to the side, sporadically throwing shuriken as Lee attempted to approach him in order to land Taijutsu.

This dance lasted a few minutes, both sides exhausted, trying to find weaknesses in their ennemy.

Then, Lee leaped forwards in an attempt to hit him with a flying kick. In response, the dark-skinned man pulled out a kunai and slashed at his leg. Blood spurted from his calf, and the wounded shinobi fell to his knees, panting. "He seems to be drained already. Lucky" remarked the dark-skinned man. He backed up a few steps to fire off a Katon jutsu when his heel bumped against a solid surface.

It was the step he had come down to the hall from. "What?" His attacker, by coming close to him and flanking him, had actually turned him around and had backed him into the stairs.

Lee leaped up and pounced towards him and landed a solid punch in his stomach, making him trip backwards and fall flat on his back onto the hard rock stairs.

•••••••••••

Lee swayed unsteadily, a throbbing pain in his side and calf. His leg was about to give out. Before his ennemy could get up, he leaped towards him, and battered him with punches. After a few hits to the head, the dark-skinned man stopped struggling, and lolled his head around groggily.

"You've lost! Now speak! Who are you? Why are you here?" Lee shouted, speaking with difficulty.

He had only won because of lucky strategy, and because strangely, his enemy seemed drained. Had they both faced each other in an open field with full chakra, he suspected he would have lost.

"I... asjdj" mumbled the fallen shinobi. " I'm bringing you to the nearest authorities, sir." Spoke Lee leaning down to grab his opponents arm.

At that moment, the dark-skinned man's eyes flew open, full of power. "Heh. Yeah right." He growled. "What?" Lee managed.

All of a sudden, a sudden blast of power unlike any Lee had ever seen before flew from his enemies' body, and pushed him flying into the air and smashing into a pillar. "What? H-how?" Lee spluttered, blood running from his mouth, his vision blurring. His head slumped, as blood began to pool around him. As his vision darkened, he saw his ennemy get up, walk to him, kneel in front of him, and say: "My name, is Sareko Akaihono. Goodbye."

•••••••

Under Yoake Hill
1700 Hours
Sareko Akaihono walked down the hall, towards a blinding light and heat, slightly limping but feeling good as power coursed through his veins, his right eye glinting red.

Welcome!
VERY IMPORTANT PLS READ: This does not relate to this chapter or the next few, but the world that I have created here is perhaps different from some world you may have seen in some stories (like in americas stories e.g.) : I have imagined hidden villages to be quite small, and not have that many good high quality, active shinobi. There are no actual armies like in the 4th shinobi war (which was unrealistic:
Spoiler: show
where did the leaf pull that many shinobi from? Their ass? If each year the academy produces an average of 10 shinobi (the Konoha eleven had one team from a year before) and the anbu a few more, the whole army should have tops 550 people and in the anime they had like 10 000 wtf???)
or in one of Americas stories: everything is on a much smaller scale: please remember this. Thank you for any of your attention.

tl;dr the world I'm creating is smaller than the Naruto one and does not have large armies.

READ UNTIL AROUND THE END FOR A SICK PUN

CHAPTER 3

Last time: Diamond Lee arrives on the scene, finding wounded thunder shinobi. The mysterious man goes deeper into the hill as Lee decides to go in to investigate.

27 October, Year 1567 of the new calendar

The Hidden Snow Village

1650 Hours Yoake Hill Time 1150 Hours Hidden Snow Time

A burning plain, bodies strewn all around. Smoke and fire, rising from hills in the distance. Unbearable heat. Foggy air. A man covered in lava, raising his hands to the heavens. One in blue and black, sending wave after wave of cold water towards the  burning man. Then decapitated by a warrior with a scythe. A child kneeling on the ground. A statue of a man made of stone, lying on the ground. Energy emanating from the man covered in magma, destroying objects in its path. A blond man with a sword being ripped apart by the power, his cigarette falling to the ground but kept lit by the heat in the air.

Kamakiri Gin jolted awake, beads of sweat on his forehead. He looked left and right in the near darkness of his shuttered room, searching for his sword and armor hanging from the wall. "Calm yourself, just a dream". He told himself, attempting to steady his heart rate.

What an immersive dream that had been.

He could almost still feel the heat scorching his cheeks, and if he closed his eyes, he could almost see the afterimage branded into his retina by the fires.

"Some say that dreams sometimes have a prophetic quality." Mused Gin aloud, running a hand through his fair hair. "However, I do not believe in that." He said gravely, to himself still.

However, he knew that a main reason he was saying this to himself was because this dream had seriously spooked him.

He opened his windows, the clear morning light coming through the glass, as snowflakes danced slowly through the air. Everything was calm, outside.

In a clearing in a valley near Yoake Hill

1645 Hours

Izumi stretched out, looking in contentment at the finished tent in front of him. This was going to be his base for the next week. He had decided to take a break from the admistrative part of leading Iryo Buntai and go back out to the field and collect medicinal plants while being ready to answer any calls for help in the area. He liked to do this, a simple medics' work, and he was relieved to have a break from the organizing and administrative leadership of the medical organization.

The Hidden Dust native walked towards the nearest cluster of bushes, looking for a bouquet of Echinacea. As he hopped onto a log to get a better field of vision to hopefully spot the blooming purple petals of the flower, he noticed something in the sky. "Could it be?" Was that an Iryo Buntai emergency flare? He peered at the horizon, where he thought he could make out a small blob of green smoke. If that was truly a flare, according to the color it had been launched by a shinobi, signaling a critical case or death. "
"How strange. Has there been an altercation between villages?" Wondered Izumi aloud, running a hand through his short brown hair. Also, there were no villages or settlements in the area where the flare was coming from, so it couldn't have been an attack on a a store by a rogue, which was actually a common occurrence in these parts.

"It's my duty to check this out." Izumi declared to the tree in front of him. He hurried back to his tent, grabbed his first aid kit, and then started jogging in the direction of the blot in the otherwise clear blue sky.
••••••
Yoake Hill
1640 Hours

Diamond Himitsu Lee trotted through the near darkness, his eyes accustoming to the low levels of light. It had been a few minutes since he had entered the hole in the hill, and so far, he had seen or found nothing.

He could tell that the passage was sloping down gently. Currently, the height of the passage was about three meters, he estimated, and perhaps about the same in width. However, it was narrowing fast.

He did not dare sprint, as there might be traps. "The dead guy had said the bombs were hidden in ... gloves right?" wondered Lee to himself. " Maybe there are some in that cloak right there. That cloak!! " Lee stopped in his tracks. A few steps away, lay a discarded cloak embroidered with red flames. "Huh, kinda like mine, but less cool." Remarked the adventurer. This was definite proof that someone was down here. He couldn't see anything else around, so it most probably had been put there on purpose. There were also no wires in sight, so hopefully any explosives in this cloak were simply detonated by pressure. However, he could not trust his eyes as the darkness was almost nearly absolute. Lee had a gut feeling the bombs were in the coat and that was all there was to it, but got feelings were sometimes wrong. "Ah, whatever, it's just me involved here." Thought Lee. "Well, let's try jumping over and see what happens, eh."

Lee took a deep breath, took a few quick strides forwards, and jumped over the cloak.

Deeper in Yoake Hill
1641 Hours

When the dark-skinned man heard his second trap go off, he did not react. He only ever so slightly quickened his pace. He could see that he had almost reached the bottom of the stairs. He was too close to his goal to fail. He felt it. Even if he had to fight before he reached the bottom, he would win. He had to.
•••••••••
Inside Yoake Hill
1642 Hours

Diamond Lee trotted away from the crater where the cloak had been, quite happy with himself.

After having jumped over, he had thrown some rubble at the cloak from a safe distance. He had done this because of his combined desires of wanting to trick whoever was deeper in the hill to believe they had destroyed their pursuer, and because, he wanted to see an explosion.

He was now no longer in the passage created by the explosion: the walls were made out of carved stone blocks and he was going down a broad staircase. "What was this? An abandonned temple? Lee did not recall learning anything about a temple under the worn out face. "Perhaps this is burial place, but if it was he must have a hell of an important guy..." Thought Lee.  "Maybe someone is after a treasure here. No time to think! Gotta go fast!"

As he descended the stairs, he began to distinguish a dim orange glow coming from below. Then, as the glow grew stronger and stronger, he started feeling another chakra down in the stairs. This was it: this is what he was looking for! There was someone down here, and he was 99% that they were responsible for setting the traps that had injured and killed the Thunder shinobi.

Lee started sprinting down the stairs, throwing caution out the window. He had to figure out what was happening here. "This could be serious." Diamond mentally exclaimed. "Perhaps Shinobi Lives are On the Line!"
•••••••••
Inside Yoake Hill
1645 Hours

The dark-skinned man, turned around, feeling another chakra coming down the stairs at a fast pace. He reached into a pouch around his waist, grabbed a kunai, and got ready for battle.

Well I hope everyone liked it. Before anyone asks, I'm sorry the fight scene isn't here!!! I just keep underestimating the amount of words I need to say something, and so I've been saying it's coming for a while now, but it will most probably be next chapter, I don't see how it could not be, now. Please place any comments and criticism in the replies to the the thread, as always. Idk who actually reads each chapter in its entirety and follows the plot, but it there's anyone out there like that, then thank you very much. That'll be it for today!

General Discussion / The Battle of Yoake Hill - Chapter 2

Yoooooo everyone! Before you dive in, just wanna say welcome back, and two things:
I might have said there would be a battle in this chapter, but the plot events that happened in it took more words to write than I thought so the first fight will probably be next time. Also, remember to look at the time and location indicators I put, to be able to understand the story.
Let's-a go!

LAST TIME:

A man blows a hole into a hill. The Thunder Kage sends a team to investigate, the man goes in.

The battle at Yoake hill chapter 2

27 October, year 1567 of the new calendar.
Near Yoake Hill
1557 Hours

Diamond Himitsu Lee zipped from tree to tree on his way back from a mission to the Hidden Shockwave. He was hoping to make it back to the Ash before sunset, but it didn't seem like he was going to make it. "Maybe if my name was Justin Time, I would make it" chuckled Diamond to himself. Making horribly corny jokes on purpose had become such a habit that he made them even to himself now...

As he finished giggling at his own joke, something caught his eye to the right. Lee hopped onto the ground, peering at the horizon. In the distance, on the side of a hill, he could see a steady plume of smoke rising. "Huh, I wonder what that is... According to the map, there aren't any villages there..." Then, Diamond heard a muffled explosion, which to his trained shinobi ear, sounded like that of a paper bomb. "What? Paper bombs?  Is there fighting? I should investigate... Oh well, screw getting to the village in time."

As Diamond Lee approached to the location from which the smoke was coming from and from where he assumed the explosion had taken place, he noticed that the smoke was coming from a hole created in the hill, probably by an explosion or jutsu. Also, at the mouth of this hole, were two shinobi in Hidden Thunder attire. They were in bad shape. One looked like he was in his thirties, and both of his legs had been blown off. He was breathing, but unconscious. The other seemed like a teenager-young adult. One of his legs was lightly injured, but he was obviously going to make it. He wore a Hidden Thunder ANBU uniform. He was somewhat chubby, with long, grey spiky hair.  Lee ran up the side of the hill, rubble crunching under his boots. He came within close range of the injured shinobi, and said: "Hey! What happened, did your sensei not sense it?" and then immediately scolded himself for it. This was serious, not a time to make garbage jokes. He put his serious face on.

The grey haired young man turned his head to face him, a look of relief  to see a shinobi from an allied nation on his face. Diamond kneeled at his side, and was about to ask him a question, but the grey-haired spoke first: " My name is J -- " However, Lee interrupted: "Sorry to be so harsh buddy, but I don't care what your name is. However, do you have any info on what caused this explosion that injured you and that man over there?"
The young man answered quickly: "No, but my name is Juke and tell my mom that --"
But from the moment he had heard the "No", Lee was already off, running towards the more gravely injured man. He knew the chubby boy would make it, so he had no inclinations to listen to his message to his mother or whatever he was rambling about.

The second Thunder shinobi was in very bad shape. He was probably not going to make it, as he had lost both legs and had already bled profusely, enough to create a puddle around the stumps that were his legs. Lee knew basic medical ninjutsu, so he started healing the man immediately.

After a few minutes of healing, the man started to wake up. He looked around him through half-closed eyes, groaned, and looked up at Diamond. "Hey... Do you have any intel on what caused this explosion, sir?" Lee asked quietly. "Gloves...  had paper bombs in them.... left on the floor..." whispered the man, speaking with difficulty, croaking. "Who did this? Did someone set a trap? Do you know?" Asked Lee, as he desperately tried to stop the man's bleeding and close his wound. "We... think he's in... the hill" said the shinobi, before mumbling a few more unintelligible words, and passing out again. "Mister! Hey! Hang on! I can heal you!" Shouted Lee uselessly. The man's chest rose and fell one last time, and then it stopped, forever. "Damn it!" Lee exclaimed, as he realized the shinobi was dead. He gently closed the mans' eyes, and got up to decide what to do next.

Inside Yoake Hill
1620 Hours

The dark-skinned man walked at a brisk pace down the passage. He had heard the first of his booby traps go off a few minutes ago, and he was getting nervous.

Hopefully, whoever had stepped on the gloves had been taken out, but he couldn't count on it. Also, perhaps they had been accompanied, and their comrade might try and investigate if they were shinobi.
Whoever it was, and whether they had set the trap off because they were investigating the explosion or not, it was not good someone or something was lurking around the explosion site so soon. He tried to pick up his pace even more, but could not manage a trot; his chakra was still almost fully spent from the two jutsu he had used to force his way into the hill. All of a sudden, something flew out towards the man from behind him to the left. In the near darkness of the dimly lit stairs, he could not make out what it was, but he still managed to dodged it, barely. However, two more objects came flying towards him from ahead. They looked like kunai, but they seemed to have come from the walls themselves! Was this passage laid with traps to whoever would enter? Why? The dark-skinned man narrowly dodged the first projectile with a desperate jerk of his body, but the second object hit him squarely in the shoulder, burying itself into his flesh with a crunch. "Aaah!" He screamed, grunting as he felt pain irradiate from his shoulder. He reached to the wound, breathed in, grabbed the kunai, and pulled it out. "Ah!" Strangely, no blood seemed to flow from this wound. The projectile that had pierced his skin seemed to be made of rock, like the one that the walls were made out of. The previously cloaked man stayed kneeling, expecting more rock kunai to come his way. None came. He looked up, incredulous. On one side, he was lucky that no more were coming as he could not dodge in his current state, but on the other he was unlucky; he had gotten hit by the last trap of the batch. He just had to hope there were just these traps.
Shakily, the dark skinned man got up, his vision swimming in the dimly lit staircase, and resumed walking towards  downwards. "Huh, that barely even hurt." He remarked to himself as he walked down the stairs, feeling better and better as he got closer to his goal.
                 ••••••••••••
Yoake Hill
1636 Hours

"I have to investigate", muttered Diamond Lee to himself, as he looked at the hole in the hill. The fact that traps had been set around the mouth of the hole seemed suspicious, and so his hypothesis was that someone had blown a hole into the hill, laid traps around it to stop anyone from following them, and then gone inside. But why? Were they being chased by police or shinobi? Would that mean those Thunder Shinobi were his pursuit team then?
Or were they here to look for something in the hill?

There were many possibilities.

"Perhaps that shitty ANBU that let himself be caught in such an elementary trap over there will know... ANBU tend to know stuff, right?" Lee mused. He trotted over to the side of the young adult, and asked him if he knew why he was sent on his mission and if there was anyone in the hole in the hill. "No! I don't know anything..." exclaimed the ANBU calling himself Juke. "I just became an ANBU trainee, nobody told me anything, I was just supposed to follow that other guy and investigate something, I can't remember what.... But anyways, I'm a pretty chill guy, Il like to sleep in trees, and -- " Diamond Lee tuned out at this point, and pretended to listen so as to not aggravate the slightly chubby ANBU trainee.

It was decided: He had to investigate. According to the now dead shinobi, someone was in there, and it made sense to him, since traps had been set around the mouth of the hole... He had to do this, even if it wasn't his mission: more people's lives might get in danger somehow if nothing was investigated. Innocent people's lives....

Lee got up, walked over to Juke, gave him some food pills, told him he would be back, and then took out of one of his pouches an Iryo Buntai flare. He ignited it and threw it into the air as far as he could. Hopefully, a medic would see the green glow of the flare in the waning light of the afternoon, and would come and help Juke, and send the other shinobi's body to his village to rest. "Hey you, write a report to your village. Tell them everything you know. Also say that a shinobi of the Ash called Diamond Lee is going into the hole to investigate. Got it?" Juke answered, looking confused: "Who's the Ash shinobi?" Diamond Lee looked at him with a deadpan look, totally unimpressed by the ANBU quality of the Hidden Thunder. He then sprinted into the cave, just as behind him, Juke realized who the Ash shinobi was, emitting a loud "Ooooooh I get it..." as the answer crawled into his brain.

Inside Yoake Hill
1645 Hours

The dark-skinned man walked down the stairs, pain throbbing through his shoulder. Then, a sudden pang of pain made him collapse to his knees again, and he recovered with slow, deep breaths, his body shaking. "No, not now, not so close to my goal..." After a little while, he got up. He felt better. The pain had disapeared, as if he had never been hit with the rock kunai. "It didn't even hurt at all actually, why did I fall?" Wondered the man as he trotted down the stairs, towards a red glow that was becoming stronger and stronger.

THE END OF CHAPTER TWO

I hope everyone liked it, I have a lot of stuff going on atm ( overused line I know), but I am writing every evening, so the chapters will keep coming. Due to the sheer amount of characters, it's hard to write a coherent plot that includes everyone and is not boring, and so that's why this is long and hard for me.

Anyways hope you like it, see you chapter 3!

The Battle of Yoake Hill -  Chapter 1
Yo what up everyone, I hope the title doesn't make you cringe too much! It might change or it might stay as this, but anyways, welcome to the first chapter of my story!
First I'd like to give acknowledgements and thanks to:
Toratsume Nyshn, who told me about dark characters in SLO and gave me the map of its world. To Mars, he helped me vote for character skills and gave very valuable advice about that. Nova: Helped vote for character skills and gave good insight on personalities
Now let's dive right in!
27 October, Year 1567 of the new
Calendar
At a Hill between the border of the land of Ashes, Hills, and Thunder.

1057 Hours
He walked up to the side of the hill, his black, flame bordered robes rustling with every step that he took up the gravely ground. He placed his hands on the worn stone face carved into the hill, and breathed in deeply. After a few moments, he sighed with relief. "Yes, this is the place..." He whispered to himself. "After all this hard work..."
He chuckled happily and began gathering his chakra into his palms. He didn't have to make a hand seal, and exclaimed: Fire Style: Explosive Palm! Molded chakra in the form of fire rushed from his palms, into the stone, diffusing into the hill, blowing a deep, conical passage into it. A booming explosion sounded, followed by a plume of smoke, prompting a flock of birds to flee from the surrounding trees.
As the dust began to settle, the dark-skinned man walked into the hole he had gouged out from the hill, casually removing and dropping his gloves on the still smoking rubble.
••••••••••
On a hill on the other side of the valley.
1103 Hours
Hooke Himitsu was jolted awake by a loud, rumbling boom that seemed to shake the very foundations of the earth. "Where am I?" He looked around him. What he saw immediately around him were what seemed to be the remains of a picnic, bottles of a substance which may or may not have been part of the three Shinobi Prohibitions, his green cloak, his secret summoning scroll, and... a very attractive kunoichi, sleeping next to him, half dressed.
That's when Hookes' memories rushed back to him. "Oooh... That was a nice picnic, heheheheh...." He was about to lie back down to catch some more Zzs when he remembered why he was jolted awake in the first place. He looked in wonder at the steady smoke rising from one of the hills across the border. "Perhaps.... perhaps I should report this to Lord Fulvius.... meh.... But then again... he would probably slay me if he found out I was around when this happened and didn't rush back to him with valuable intel.... meh whatever." And Hooke lay back down.
Five minutes later, however, he lazily sat back up, and realized why he should go back to the Hidden Metal to report this. "If I go now, I can avoid being around when this damsel awakens. That would save me some trouble... And more importantly, I wouldn't have to finish this mission! Guess I'm going then!" Hooke sprinted from the picnic area just as the kunoichi awakened, just barely remembering to take his cloak and top secret summoning scroll. He also paused to draw an obscene diagram on a tree with a kunai, but that, well it was his signature getaway symbol.
Speeding towards the Hidden Metal, the wind tousling his green hair, Hooke was glad to be traveling again, not on an idiotic body guarding mission he would have totally ditched anyways.
••••••••
Hidden Thunder Village, Kage Office
1200 Hours
Reminance Kaiyo rubbed his sleepy eyelids, looking out of the window of his office. He lifted his head from his desk, shook himself awake, and returned to signing boring paperwork on his office.
He was signing a contract about the purchase of a thousand blunted kunai for academy purposes when he heard a knock on the door. "Come in!" He answered. The door opened, and a pale, young adult with white hair entered. "Hello Shiro, what is it?" Reminance asked casually. "Sir, one of our intel sources has reported that In the area around the border between our nation, the Hill, and the Ash, an explosion was heard and smoke was seen rising from a hill. It seems like the exact hill is the one with the ancient stone face carved into it... I don't know if you know about it sir." "Yes, yes," replied Reminance. "Isn't that the hill that old legends from the area talk about as the "Yoake Hill", "Dawn Hill"? "Yeah" replied Shiro, who could allow this casual response due to his strength and reputation in the village. "Alright, thanks for telling me about this, Shiro. I'll send a two-man team to investigate, as a C-to-B rank mission."
Shiro walked out of the room, his mind already on the next thing, while Reminance checked his Shinobi Directory for the closest possible chunin team to the site of the explosion.
•••••••••••
Yoake Hill
1137 Hours
The dark-skinned young man arrived at the end of the conical passage he had created with his explosion, and ran his fingers along the wall. "Yes!" He exclaimed, after feeling an anomaly in the rock. He pulled apart a piece of rubble, and then he saw it. Here it was. He ran his hands along the polished, obviously man made stone wall.

He placed his hands on it, gathered his chakra, and reiterated the Fire Style: Explosive Palm jutsu one more time, albeit at a much smaller scale. As the dust settled, the descending stone stairs that had been uncovered by his jutsu seemed to beckon to the man to descend them. He dropped his black robe, now wearing just pants and a black vest. He walked slowly into the passage, his chakra almost fully spent, smiling gleefully as he descended down the stairs.
"Finally" he whispered to himself, as he descended into the darkness.
THE END OF CHAPTER
Thanks for registering to everyone who did. I will do my best to make sure your character is featured. I think this chapter is quite short compared to the ones that will come. Please comment on how I can make the next chapters better, although I will have started it by the time this goes up... Thanks!

General Discussion / SLO Interviews Issue 4
« on: November 22, 2016, 23:02:48 »

WELCOME TO ISSUE 4 OF SLO INTERVIEWS Yo everyone. I've been busy with the big story i'm writing (don't have a name for it yet haha). But, here is the awaited SLO interviews issue 4. Dig in folks!

IN THIS ISSUE: I had a talk with mattaleks the developer, who spoke freely about topics like the dev team, how he joined it, and how he sees its future. I have anticipated this interview, and I’m glad to finally have been able to bring it to all of you. I also had a talk with Mars about how he became a prominent member of the community, if he thinks SLO could die out, and more! Lets goooooo

NEXT TIME: The development of the SLO interviews will be slowed down due to the big story project I’ve been working on, but they won’t fully stop. The pace will just slow down a bit…

I had a very interesting talk with mattaleks, a developer in SLO. He has textured and created the buildings we now see in game, and often shares sneak peaks of what he is up to in discord and the shout box. Here’s what he said:

DL: How did you become a developer in this game? Did you know about it before you became a dev?

M: Nope, I was looking for any type of work as a dev so i posted on unity forums and they contacted me.

DL: What do you think of the current work you are doing and it's workload? Do you hope to stick long enough to be able to get a full paid job?

M: I’m working on the village kit, the environment for the village & the new characters clothing/gear. I love the workload, the more the better. That was my original plan but unfortunately I’m going to start working soon. But i plan on finishing the village before I do so.

DL: How do you feel about the current dev team? Are you guys able to get things done efficiently? Is it fun o work with each other?

M: I hate this team, the community doesn't know this but I’ve left the team a few times due to lack of work from other devs. I wish the devs would talk less and work more. I also wish some devs would be less of a boss and more of a leader. But once in a blue moon we are able to get some work done as a team. But at the end of the day I think of them as family & i love working with them.

DL: Do you feel that you are: under qualified, perfectly qualified, or over qualified for the current job? Do you think Vreg needs to hire more devs, or are you guys fine as you are?

M: I think I’m perfectly qualified when it comes to texturing & environment, but under qualified when it comes to modeling.  Vreg needs to hire another coder or put a lot more work into this project or it will die. And an artist or two would help me, especially when I start work.

DL: Final Question: Seeing as this game has quite a community behind it, de you ever feel any pressure when you are working? Do you think that the fact that the community is so big and so hyped helps the dev team or has a negative effect?

M: I would say i feel the total opposite. The community gives me the energy I need to work on SLO. Hype usually leads to disappointment. So yeah I guess you can say it has a negative effect. But without it, people don’t have anything to look forward too.

That concluded the interview with mattaleks, texture for the team of Shinobi Life Online, working hard to get us more buildings. Next time you see him around, congratulate him for his hard work!

Next, I interviewed Mars, absolute top poster of the community, and Kage of the Hidden Hill, character age 12. He talked about Roguhanta, what he has in mind for the Hidden Hill, and moar. This is quite a long interview, so settle down, and reaaad till you drop.

DL:   How do you think you became such a prominent member of the community? (You are the top poster, basically everyone knows u, you became Kage, ect…

Ma: I'm partly not sure myself. When I first joined the community I was one of the most hated players. (I was 13 years old and extremely annoying). I just stayed active and posting and eventually made a few friends. It was actually pretty hard as the people that hated me were the prominent members and mods. New members kept coming in who I befriended and eventually Leebz came. Leebz made a clan called Himitsu which I'm sure you know.
I was the second member to join Himitsu, the first being Shiv. As more members came, most of them joined Himitsu and I ended up with loads of friends. We ended up 'overthrowing' the popular and prominent members (sidenote: most of these members were in katakiuchi). These old members left and I was in the top 10 posters. I was still a postcountwhore till I got around 1000 posts. Once I got to that point I was the member with the second most amount of posts and the most active member with a high post count. Things just went uphill from there for me, I was friends with everyone, had a high postcount, co-led the most powerful org (Roguhanta). I also donated for Sennin (fun fact I only donated £80 but Vreg gave me the £100 rank as I supported the community a lot)
Eventually when July 2015 came around jcryer and I worked together and built me a gaming pc. I then played a shit tone and became the second best in game, behind limits. Nova joined and we trained together and essentially formed a three man trio and friendship group (myself, Nova and limits). We were the best players in game and all had good forum reputation.
Nova then created Yurei which is seen as an org for the popular kids to most people, and then got moderator. I wouldn't classify myself as the most prominent member though I do feel I have a pretty big role in the community. I guess this is all down to my friends being nice guys with important opinions and flashy ranks, having the highest postcount, having the highest reputation behind Vreg and being in good organizations.

DL: Next, how do you feel about the community? Do you feel since you have started, that the community has gotten more kind and, welcoming, or less?

Ma: When I joined in 2014 it was a very toxic community, it all became very friendly in 2015 and at the start of this year I feel the community was toxic again. Midway through this year (2016) there have been a lot of foreign members which we joke about but I think all round, this is the friendliest the community has ever been. We've gained a lot of really welcoming members.

DL: Next: if you compare the gameplay of NC, which you have played quite a bit, to that of SLO, what is better in NC? What's not as good?

Ma: Things SLO does better: Graphics - Modeling and texturing. Things NC does better: Gameplay, Taijutsu, Bukijutsu, Jutsu, Running, Recharging, and Combat. Honestly, as of now, NC is a much better game and it's receiving a graphics and general update soon with a load of new features.

DL: Next: do you have any goals in mind for the village you are Kage of? Alliances with other villages or clans and organizations, wars with other villages, etc…

Ma: I have already established an alliance with Reminance, Ken and DarthTyrael as we made an official agreement in our Kage summit server This means Hill, Thunder, Snow and Dust are allied and will be allied for a long time hopefully. Our nations will help each other out e.g. sharing resources or manpower if needed. I plan to set up a village elder system for my village at least where every big decision has to be approved by elders. Each Kage will be able to choose one elder to join the council. I plan for these elders to stay in this council even when the Kage they are elected by is no longer Kage. They will stay in this position till they are old (hence elder). I have elected Batt as my elder and I will choose 2 more who I will announce later. The reason I am choosing more than 1 is because I want a base council to start with as 1 advisor doesn't seem very much. I have already somewhat established this system with the current Kage and villages. I hope for the hill to be a powerful nation who does not search for war. Though, I also don't want us to be pushovers. If someone is doing wrong in the shinobi world, attacking us or giving us a hard time I hope we will not hesitate to engage.

DL: You are a senior member of, according to you, the most powerful organization in SLO.  Do you think there could e any conflict of interests between your organization, and the village you lead?

Ma: I don't think so. Roguhanta aims to hunt rogues and I'm sure that will do nothing except protect the village.

DL: Final question: Do you think SLO could ever die out?

Ma: Easily.I've seen the community almost die out before and I don't doubt it could happen to the game. The reason the game would die out would be if the team's workflow slowed down almost to a halt.
tl;dr yes it could if Vreg and Co.'s workflow slows down any more

And that… well you already know what it concluded. Anyways, hope you liked it this time around. Post any *healthy* debates you want to have in the comments, and suggestions as always! Hope you registered for my story!

Games / Registration for My Story! Deadline - Saturday 26 November
« on: November 21, 2016, 23:20:01 »
YOU NEED TO HAVE A CHARACTER TO DO THIS
Yo everyone. Its me. I'm the dude that does the SLO interviews.

This post is a registering post, and while its technically not a forum game, I still put it here. Here's the gist.
I just got this big inspiration, to write a story with a shite ton of SLO characters, all fighting. I want the most possible characters in the story. I have already asked all of the kages personally, as well as some other prominent people. If you want to be in this story, which I think would be really cool (the more the merrier) please post down here according to this template. If i have already contacted you about this through other means, dont post here.  Once you fill it out, no more work necessary from you, I will do the writing.

CHARACTER NAME :
CHARACTER RANK IN VILLAGE: You may change this from you character page, as i do not want only jonin in this story xD. Please make rank according to what skill your character has.
CHARACTER ABILITY/SKILL: 1-20.  1 is academy student. 3 is genin. 8 is new chuunin. 8-13 experienced chuunin. 14-19 jonin. 20 kage level. PLEASE BE HONEST, i need every type of ninja in this story. Skill does not necessarily affect if you will die early on or not. This skill does not need to be fighting, you can be a medic. (hoping to have iryo buntai in this story) if you are a medic, just specify it here, and do the 1-20, 20 being tsunade level
ROGUE? Y OR N: Do not worry, if yes, you character can still be featured prominently as much as for a village ninja. once again, this does not need to be like n your char pagre.
EVIL at heart? by this i mean you litterally would kill just for fun, or for money. If you are truly EVIL at heart, then you will be on the "bad" side. Being rogue or village does not affect this
YOUR VILLAGE IF YOU ARE NOT ROGUE:
LINK to your char page!

IMPORTANT: BY FILLING THIS OUT, YOU WILL KNOW THAT: I HAVE AGREED TO RESPECT YOUR CHARACTER FROM YOUR CHARACTER PAGE AND/OR INFO YOU PROVIDE ME. YOU HAVE AGREED THAT YOUR CHARACTER MAY DIE EARLY OR NOT AT ALL, OR MAY NOT EVEN APPEAR IN THE STORY. I WILL CHOOSE THE ROLE YOUR CHARACTER WILL HAVE, BUT ONCE AGAIN IN ACCORDANCE TO THE PERSONALITY YOU PROVIDE.

I may ask you for more info later on.

If you lead something (clan, org) please register if I havent talked to you already. It will make the story that much better.

General Discussion / SLO Interviews Issue 3
« on: November 15, 2016, 22:45:45 »
WELCOME TO ISSUE 3 OF SLO INTERVIEWS Wwwwwhat’s up guys, and welcome to the third installment of the Shinobi Life Online Interviews! Many suggested I interview Json243, and I myself thought that would be pretty cool, so I did! Let’s dive right in.

IN THIS ISSUE: I had a great interview with Json243 about the creation of Roguhanta, how SLO was before, and what he thinks of NC! I also had the opportunity to question taigakun about the creation of Heathen, what he hopes from SLOs lore, and the future of Heathen!

NEXT TIME: An interview with mattaleks, which is already underway as I speak, and an interview with one of the Kages!

First, I interviewed json243. He joined in January 2014. He is one of the still somewhat active First-generation members in SLO. He is a top poster with 909 posts as I write, and is known for creating the organization now known as Roguhanta. He had some very interesting things to say. Read on!

Diamond Lee: Seeing as you are a first gen, how did you find the game when it was in such early stages? What was the community like back then?
Json243: I found the game because I was bored one day, and wanted to find a cool Naruto 3D MMORPG. I stumbled on SLO back in 2014 by pretty much looking up Naruto 3d mmorpg. Back when I first found it, it was still called Narusimu. [INTERVIEWERS NOTE:
Spoiler: show
IF YOU WANNA SEE WHAT IT WAS LIKE BACK THEN CHECK THIS OUT. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fE05hBhgF0k THIS VIDEO WAS PRODUCED BY OUR VERY OWN AMERICA, WHOM I INTERVIEWED IN ISSUE 1.]
When I joined the forum, I instantly knew that the community would be a lot of fun. The people on the forum were always a lot of fun, and the shoutbox was always bumpin. There were always people suggesting new ideas, starting new forum games, and starting clans and orgs. The best game that was started was secret assassin, which always brought a bunch of members to play. When I first joined, the people I looked up to the most were Halika and m4r1us. They were mods at the time, and welcomed me with open arms. Overall, joining in the first gen was the best. The people were welcoming and always found new things to talk about and do on the forum. I made some of my best friends in the first gen, but also made some of my best friends later on as more people joined. #firstgen4lyfe
DL: Next, how did you come up with the idea for Roguhanta? I had a different name before, right? Is the current Roguhanta very different from the one you created?
J: :  I first came up with the idea for Roguhanta when my last org, Nami no Kishi, pretty much just fell apart cause nobody was active. After that, I decided to start my own org, and get people from Nami who wanted to leave and other friends to join. I started the org as a rogue hunting org that also focused on hunting down rogue shinobi, and villages would pay us to catch them or kill them. It pretty much started with me, Reminance, Mars, and Shirihata, and we went from there. Cedie, known at the time as Biometallurgy, also was a big contributor when he decided to join our org. When I first created it, I named it Yuki Jinga because it was going to be based out of the Hidden Snow, and Yuki Jinga means Snow Saviors. It was going to have 5 leaders, who had 3 people under them who would work as a team on assignments. Then, we decided to have outposts in every village, with 3 man teams as well. The Roguhanta today isn't much different than it used to be, as Reminance, the new leader, kept it pretty much the same as it was when I was the leader. Reminance took over when I became more inactive, as he didn't want to see the org die and I believed he would make a great leader as well.
DL: How was the actual game back in Gen 1? How did it feel? How do you think gameplay has evolved since then?
J: :  Back in gen 1, the game was just getting started and development was just starting to boom. I remember the first version I tried out only had Chidori. I was part of the first stress test, and the game started expanding with the fireball jutsu and multiplayer. Every expansion made me really excited about the game. Since then, the gameplay has gotten much better by what I have seen in the videos.  8)
DL: Final question: What do you think of SLO's competitor, Ninja's Crew? In what ways do you feel is it better? Worse?
J: :  I don't know much about Ninja's Crew, as I just joined the forum last week, but the game definetly shows promise. They've done a lot of good work, and seem to keep a steady pace as they work. I think their production is going smoothely, as they keep coming up with new stuff and are quick to do their work. The graphics and gameplay also look great, and their playable version looks amazing right now with many different jutsu that are usable. The community is small as the game is early in development and hasn't attracted as many people, but I believe that it will do very well in the future.
That concluded my interview with Json 243, creator of Roguhanta, very proud member of the first generation of SLO. To anyone who is too lazy to read, and just only read this part, I very heavily think you should read this interview. Its really] interesting, at least to me it was. But maybe that’s because I’m a scrubby 6th gen-er… Anywaaays….

Next, I was able to interview taigakun, character name Taiga Himitsu. He is the founder of the Heathen organization, and leader of the SLO branch of the Himitsu clan. He joined on July 29th, 2015. He is about 150 posts from being a top poster, with 607 as I write  He talked about the creation of Heathen, its future and more. Read on 

Diamond Lee: How did you create Heathen?
taigakun:  It was during march and I was very interested in creating an organization. But I didn’t want to create something like everyone else, where you are either for the system or against it. No no I wanted heathen to be different. The kind of organization that you will never know their true motives. The name heathen was inspired from hours and hours of me reading about Viking history, and the "Heathen army" was the army Ivar the boneless took to England to avenge the death of his father, and before he became the king of Dublin. Ha-ha enough of nerdy stuff for now. But yeah, Heathen is something created from hours of me brainstorming by myself and it has grown to be something I hold very dearly. This organization I will stick with till the very absolute end.
DL: What direction would you like the game to take in terms of lore? Style of the world, levels of technology, creation of nations etc…
T: SLO as it is already, is already special. In terms of lore, I’d like it to be more in depth than what current MMOS give us. Tell us about the people that made the world what it is today. Their challenges, thoughts and the side the people never saw. Show us that there is always a bad side to every story, no matter how successful it might have turned out. And for the love of god, not everything should have a happy ending haha. In terms of technology, I’m not really sure haha, I’m looking forward to seeing what the devs have in mind :3
DL: Next, what do you have in mind for the future of Heathen? More events, less/more recruiting, promotions, handing over leadership, demotions, etc.
T: Heathen's goal is to be the best. I plan on having so many (loyal, dedicated and active) members all over the SLO world so that I don’t have to be there for us to accomplish the hardest of missions. When it comes to promotion, you have to be active and depending on the department, strong in the department's specific aspect, be it combat or spying to be able to rank up. If you are inactive or mess up a lot, you'll get demoted. A lot more events to work on teamwork and for our members to better know each other. I plan on staying in heathen forever if I can haha. I'll be the one to make sure we achieve our goal here. To be the best organization in SLO.
DL: Apart from SLO, what video games do you like to play?
T: I play League of Legends, The division, Osu, Chess, and some other stuff :3
DL: Final question:  when you first joined SLO, who intimidated/impressed you the most?
T: Hard question. I think it was Remi/Mars/Sanji/Nova.  I thought they were all cool dudes haha

And that… concluded my interview with taiga-kun, aka Taiga Himitsu, Grand Commander of the Heathen Army which yours truly is part of, as well as leader of the SLO Himitsu branch, which yours truly is also proud to part of. This one too is very interesting, so if you did not read everything, I really think you should sometime.

Alright, I hope you liked this issue! This one took a little longer because the interviews were not conducted “live” Json243s’ was done over SLO PM, and Taiga’s was done over Discord like the others but we are on different time zones so it took a few days. Thanks a lot to anyone who took the time to read the whole thing, and as usual, please please post suggestions and interview suggestions in the posts. Thanks!

Yo guys, I dont know if many of you guys play ToS, but its basically just like Secret Assasin like Jcryer did here online, but with a ton of mafia-inspired roles
my name is mlgpaulboss, and i play on ranked most of the time.
If any of you guys want to friend me we can play some games together. I just thought it would be really cool if a shiteton of SLO people friended each other, and we would then play games ofToS with almost only the SLO community.
Spoiler: show
if u dont play it u shud, its pretty easy and fun

Shinobi Life Online Discussion / SLO Interviews Issue 2
« on: November 08, 2016, 22:01:26 »
WELCOME TO ISSUE 2 OF SLO INTERVIEWSWelcome to Issue 2 of The Interviews! Once again, thank you everyone who complimented Issue 1 and who gave suggestions. For this one, I will do my best to make it as clear and as well formatted as possible.

IN THIS ISSUE: I had the chance to interview Manuster, and ask him about how he joined Heathen and Tsukegami, what his goals in SLO for the future are, and more. I also talk with Shivraj about the future of SLO Arena, his role models in SLO, and more.

NEXT TIME: Still hoping for an interview with mattaleks, and an interview with Taiga Himitsu.

First, I interviewed Manuster Tsukegami, and it was during this interview that I understood why he was nominated by so many people as “Forum Clown of 2016”. Manuster, or “Manu” for some people, joined the SLO forum on March 28th, 2016. He is now a known member and likes to crack jokes. He has written quite a few very long stories. Here’s the interview:

Diamond Lee: How did you find Heathen and why did you decide to join it?
Manuster: Ooooh… Lemme see…Q&A Session. *pause* There was a Q&A Session on April the 2nd. This was very shortly after I had just joined SLO. I wasn't in any orgs or clans, But I'd read through a few. I was being my annoying self on the Q&A Session, trying to get a question answered about swimming in game, when Taiga sent me a private message on the forums, asking me to check out his alliance. I saw it. I read it. I loved it. I joined immediately (then shortly realized I was the only member rip).
DL: What has motivated you to stay active on SLO and the organizations and clans?
M:Ooh… I want to say the community. The community are great… but… I would have stayed if the community was wack anyways. This game… What Vregory is doing with this game *pause* is realllly reallllly special. I never intended to join Tsukegami… I never intended to join a clan at all to be honest, but Batt won me over… I guess –
DL: Tell us about that. [Manuster joining the Tsukegami Clan]
M:Ooh. It was ingame. I was ingame ALL THE TIME at first. Things were so different then... I haven’t even checked out the new arena. Anyways, I was online with Batt, and he took to training me, for no particular reason I guess. And, really out of the blue, he asked me to join Tsukegami. I was reluctant, cause I really disagree with clan jumping. Unless the clan ceases, I personally don’t think anyone should leave it. I mean, that’s the whole point of a family. Point is, I didn’t want to join until I was sure it was for me. A week or two later, (I think after I met waly206), I joined. An now the Tsukegami are the greatest clan of all SLO. @Nova. [INTERVIEWERS NOTE: Yes, Manuster did type that]
DL:Final question: What are your goals in SLO for the future? For example: Just stay on the forum and hang out, or write a good long story, or get better in game..
M:Ooh. All of those, you know. I plan to finish my story before the final release… The way things are going, i’ll need the time… I want to be good in game of course, who doesn’t? But I wont really dedicate myself to training until the combat system is finished. As for staying on the forum, I’m putting all of my effort into growing Heathen, we’re getting really organized. And in another 2-3 years, I don’t see why the combined powers of Kata and Heathen won’t dwarf that of Shittyhunta <3

That concluded my interview with Manuster Tsukegami, Forum Clown of the Year.

Next, I spoke with Shivraj, aka Kazuki Kaiyo. He joined on June 2, 2014. He is one of the top posters of the forum, and is known also as “Shiv”. Apart from being a member of the Kaiyo clan, he is part of Katakiuchi, and Yurei. Here’s the Q&A:

Diamond Lee: What motivates you to stay active on SLO?
S: Mostly, the community. That being, my friends, and the occasional, somewhat toxic, salty “battle”.
DL: You are part of the scribe’s guild, and are working on the SLO arena. However, recently there has been a dip in activity for that. What is its status?

S:I have been busy with school, sorry for that. But yes, expect it to be published this week, by Wednesday, I hope.
DL: Realistically, how far do you think the game can go into development? Do you think there is any chance it might die out?
S:That depends on the future activity of Vreg. He says that he’s looking for a job and that he’s gonna work more on it. If the activity stays as it is, then its most likely gonna die out in a few years. But if Vreg does as he said he would, then yes, I believe it can reach at least the Beta, and then get Kickstarter funds, which will skyrocket the development.
DL: Do you have any role models in SLO? If yes, who?
S:Hmm. That’s a good question. My role model would be Nova. He’s really great a Photoshop, and at other games that we play together. I really look up to him.
DL: Final Question: Do you have any goals in mind for SLO? As in, a story, a forum game, an awards nomination thingy, etc…
S:Hmmm, personally, I don’t think so. I've recently opened a role-play server, which is still being tested, but is open to the public. As a group, the Scribe's Guild is very active in brainstorming new projects and ideas, so you can expect more from us, but perhaps not me as an individual.

That concluded the Interview with Shivraj/Kazuki Kaiyo, Wrath for Katakiuchi.

I hope everyone liked the second edition of SLO Interviews!

Shinobi Life Online Discussion / SLO Interviews Issue 1
« on: November 07, 2016, 03:51:50 »
WELCOME TO THE FIRST ISSUE OF SLO INTERVIEWSIn these posts, I will interview different members of the community on different topics, along with providing some info about them. These posts should come out at intervals of 1-2 weeks.

IN THIS ISSUE: I talk with Reminance of Roguhanta and the Hidden Thunder ( https://www.shinobilifeonline.com/index.php?action=profile;u=169)about how he became so known in the community, how he took over Roguhanta, and more. I also have a short chat with America (https://www.shinobilifeonline.com/index.php?action=profile;u=3392)about when how and when he joined SLO, and why he has not joined any major clans or organizations apart from the Scribes.

NEXT TIME: An interview with a certain member of the Himitsu clan, and possibly a talk with one of the developers.

Now, without further ado, the interview with Reminance.

Reminance Kaiyo has been around in SLO for a while, and is respected by all. He recently became Kage of the Village Hidden in the Thunder, and passed the test with extremely high marks. I was able to ask him five questions:

Diamond Lee: When did you join SLO?
Reminance: 2013, around November. *short pause* November 01, 2013, 12:05:25 to be exact.
DL: How did you find it? [SLO]
R: Well i was searching for a Naruto MMOARPG and found this by accident. *short pause* I believe on Indie DB.
DL:When do you think you started to become an important member of the community? (You are now one of the top posters, a kage, you won a 2016 SLO award, and are a fighting force to be reckoned with.)
R:When I took over Roguhanta (https://www.shinobilifeonline.com/index.php?topic=1091.0)I made it into something great, in my honest opinion.
Around that time I got recognition for it.
DL: How did you take over Roguhanta? What year was that in?
R: I asked the previous owner (Json243) if i could take over, as I didn't want to see Roguhanta die out. As for the year I don't really remember. [INTERVIEWERS NOTE: after doing some snooping around on the Roguhanta thread, it seems like the switch in power happened sometime in the summer of 2015].
DL: Final question: What do you want SLO to become, and not to become? Seeing as you have been around for 3 years...
R: *pause* That is a great question... hmm *pause* I want SLO to become unique in their own way (which they are trying to do).I don't know in what bad thing it could turn in. The only sad thing would be if it would die out...

That concluded the interview with Reminance, character name Reminance Kaiyo, Kage of the Hidden Thunder.

Then, I was able to have quick talk with America. America is also widely respected in SLO, although he has been through very inactive months. He loves organization, and seems to like to learn about the history of Ancient Rome. He is quite unique in the way that, although he is a famous and respected member, he is not part of a clan or organization, apart from the scribes guild. Keep reading to learn why:

Diamond Lee: When did you join the game [SLO] , and how did you find it?
America: I joined about two and a half years ago, I was just starting the Naruto series and I loved it, so I looked for a Naruto MMO. [INTERVIEWERS NOTE: America joined SLO on the fifth of July, 2014, so a little less than two and a half years ago.]
DL: Alright, just one more question: why have you chosen not to join a clan or organization, apart from the scribe guild? (https://www.shinobilifeonline.com/index.php?topic=2698.0)
A: I feel like organizations at this point are not worth it yet. The game hasn't developed enough to give them room to run the organization. They lack structure, too.

That concluded the interview with America, character name Fulvius.

I hope anybody who read through enjoyed this issue of SLO Interviews. Feel free to give any suggestions for next time or for a better name.

Diamond Himitsu Lee, Sunday, November 6th 2016. For SLO Interviews, Washington DC.

Also if the options arent good enough in your opinion, then pls post ur answer as a reply!

Diamond Himitsu Lee's history: Summary:

His father was an exiled shinobi from the Village Hidden in the Ashes as well as a descendant of the Himitsu clan. His mother a resident of the faraway land to which his father exiled himself. His mother was killed by a chakra beast when he was just 2 years old. Diamond’s father taught him ninjutsu and taijutsu and raised him, and explained that he had fled Haigakure because of a crime he had committed in his younger years. At the age of 14, the boy’s hometown was destroyed by the very same chakra beast that had killed his mother. His father died trying to defend the village. In his dying words, Diamond’s father told him to go to The Hidden Ash and become a ninja there. He also asked him to convey to the Kage that he was sorry for the crime that he had committed which had led to his forced exile. A traumatized Diamond Lee Himitsu then fled the destroyed village and crossed the ocean that separated his fathers’ homeland and his own land of birth as a clandestine passenger on a ferry. He then became a shinobi in Haigakure. At the age of 17, he joined Heathen as a means to become a stronger shinobi, and be able to stop events such as the destruction of whole villages by rampaging beasts.

Anecdote: Age 17
Spoiler: show
“Hey Komaru, what the tree say to the lumberjack?”
“ffs Lee, just stop with your lame jokes already, please, we need to get on to the mission, I want to be back before sundown!
“Yeah yeah, this one’s quick. Well, he said, please LEAF! Get it? it’s because - ”
“Just shut UP! I get it, you don’t have to explain it too! Don’t add insult to injury, you moron!”
Diamond Himitsu Lee curled up and fell to the ground laughing, rolling around on the grass of the clearing where they had stopped.
Which made Komaru even madder. Her face reddened like a tomato bathing in ketchup and she cursed at him.
Until a kunai was thrown at her squarely aiming between the shoulder blades.
Diamond was up in an instant, a deathly serious look replacing the hilarity that was previously on his face. He whipped out his own kunai and leaped towards the area the projectile was thrown from, just as Komaru used the substitution jutsu and the kunai safely lodged itself into a log.
Why were they getting attacked? This was just a B-Rank info transport mission. This was supposed to be chill! Lee had to finish this guy off quick so that he could go back to cracking jokes. He pinched the sides of his nostrils and waited for the sneeze to come. As soon as he felt the tremendous energy coming down his nose, he infused it with fire and wind chakra and blew it all out in an overpowered shinobi style sneeze.
Fire Style: Dragon’s Sneeze! The bush where the enemy was hiding was quickly reduced to ashes, along with the guy inside it who had thrown the kunai.
Diamond once again switched to his happy side and turned around. “Well Komaru, you could say that he was - ” His eyes widened. Right behind Komaru, was a second enemy, who in a fraction of a second, had his kunai against Komaru’s neck, and as she realized what happened, he shouted to Diamond: “Either you drop your kunai and put your hands on your head, or I kill your teammate like you did to mine!”
Diamond reluctantly dropped his kunai and placed his hands on his head. He had met Komaru at the beginning of the mission, but she was still a fellow shinobi of the Hidden Ash, and his duty was to protect her. He had to think fast. What to do? After half a second, he had made up his mind. He was going to have to do this well, and fast. He would activate his Flaming Fist, which would greatly increase his speed, and he would pounce on the rogue so fast he wouldn’t have time to slit his comrade’s neck. He clenched his fists, hoped he would get lucky, and leaped. Halfway through his jump, his chakra kicked in, surrounding him with an aura made up of fire and wind. He shot through the air towards his attacker, aiming for the enemy’s exposed shoulder.
He was fast. A blur.
He hammered into his enemy, and dashed him against a tree, freeing Komaru. His hands seared into his enemy’s shoulders.
Then,  the rogue transformed into a puddle of water.
“Dafuq?? A water clone?? He’s that---“ Diamond turned around fast, looking for Komaru.
Too late. She looked on with a dazed expression, a kunai buried in her neck, and the real attacker behind her, a look of glee on his face.
Diamond didn’t think. He just flew towards his attacker faster than the eye could see, and in less than a second, hammered him with his Flaming Fist. The rogue was dead before he touched the ground.
But that didn’t revive Komaru.
Diamond rushed to her side. She was already dead.
How? How? How could he have not thought of this? He had let his comrade die! He had been useless! Now he had to go back to the village, and give the report that his comrade had died on a B-Rank mission?? He pounded the ground with his fists in anger.
After having calmed down, he cremated Komaru, and left the battlefield. He had to carry this scroll to the Land of Memes no matter what.
The Sun was just setting when Diamond finally started to head back to his village, when suddenly, a ninja clad in light-brown robes landed in front of him. What, another attacker? In a rage, Diamond attacked the man, but he easily repelled his punch and pushed him back. “I’m here peacefully..” He said.
“What do you want?” Diamond asked, rage still flickering in his eyes.
“I just want to… ask you something…” said the man.
“Ask me what? And who are you?” asked Diamond back, suspicious.
“Well, I’ve noticed you running around here lately, and I was wondering if you wanted to… join our little organization…”
“What organization? Why would I want to do that??”
“Well, while you are definitely not the strongest ninja around, you have some potential, and also, we happened to be recruiting at the moment. So, I thought, why not ask this fellow?”
“Why would I want to join your “little organization”? I have village duties, as well as clan ones too!”
“Well, you can of course keep your village duties, and for your information, our current leader, I, you and many other members happen to be from the Himitsu clan. And why would you want to join, well, simply to get stronger, of course…”
Diamond thought of Komaru, who he had not been able to save, and also all of the villagers of his hometown, who had been destroyed by that awful chakra beast. He couldn’t stay weak his whole life. He wanted to do something and not be completely powerless. Fine. He would join.
“Fine, I’ll join,” he stated. “But first, what’s your name, and what’s the name of this organization?
“My name is Ghost Himitsu, and I am a member of Heathen. If you apply, you are not guaranteed to be accepted, but you have good chances. Good luck”
And Ghost Himitsu leaped into the distant canopy.
A pepe croaked in a pond.
tha cheeky fooken end
