Description of the character's personality:

Saruko is a terribly misunderstood person. Outlawed by many, he is actually a very kind and compassionate person, who above all cares about his comrades and his friends, having no family he is aware of. He is sly and quick to react, and is instinctively watchful, due to the years he spent surviving on the streets of Karu. He has a peaceful soul, and would never kill without reason.

Description of the character's history:

Saruko was born in Karu. His mother died during his birth, which cast his father into a deep depression until he was killed in the great quake*(see bottom) when Saruko was only 6 - After this Saruko began to live on the streets, stealing to support himself, such a kind heart condemned to such a desperate existence. He lived without aspiration or motive until one night looking upon the ocean, he saw a mysterious figure walking across the water. Water walking was a coveted skill in the isolated city, and Saruko felt a great longing within him to be able to do what he believed was magic. Every night he waited for the man to perform the feat again, but he never returned to the city. So Saruko learnt to swim. He eventually gained the courage to swim out in the direction the man had walked. He eventually reached a small island with a temple upon it. Here lived a colony of Ninja, that devoted their lifes to their ability, and all were very proficient ninja. Skeptical at first, they begun to like Saruko and finally offered to teach him, after many times being requested so. Saruko had natural talent, and by the time he was 13, he was one of the best ninja among them, due to tens of thousands of hours spent practicing day after day. Finally he bid the men and women goodbye and left the island for the last time. And with that he walked away. He didn't swim away, he walked away.

He journeyed to the mainland and for 2 years wandered the roads. Occasionally he was confronted by Ruffians and bandits, but their amateur skills were no match for Saruko's prowess, and even though he never came close to being defeated, he never killed a single man. He wanders to this day, seeking reason of his existence.

*The great quake was an event that happened when Saruko was only 6. A massive earthquake caused a giant wave of water to fully submerge the city of Karu. Saruko's father and some 50 other people were swept away and killed in this incident.

The guy used to live on the streets, poor guy, no money for food... then he got to the ninja's island and started training more than Rock Lee, so he didn't have the time to eat
