Shinobi Life Online Suggestions / Indoors Running Speed
« on: March 14, 2017, 04:15:06 »
I don't think you should be able to run at full speed while inside a building; it could get incredibly hectic and just flat out annoying. I'd say put a cap on indoors speed at 20 or 30 km/h. I don't really see a need for you to run 60 km/h inside, however, feel free to tell me otherwise.

Naruto Fanworks / Rinnegan and Beyond
« on: March 08, 2017, 18:27:57 »
Sometimes quick story ideas will randomly pop in my head, and I begin to write them down and get addicted -- so enjoy this random short story about a Kasuke. I got lazy and decided to use village names from SLO and powers/abilities from the show. This isn't spellchecked or even reviewed at all, so there may be some mistakes.

Kosuke stood before an army of shinobi, all touting fierce weapons and expressions to match. Clothed in primarily dark blue -- the army of Asaka Seiken of the Hidden Thunder, aided by several squads of Hidden Hill shinobi. Rumor had it there could be several Uchiha in the crowd. Kosuke had a theory; he wasn’t quite sure of it’s accuracy -- it was just a theory -- but, if it worked, his power could achieve an entirely new level.

The Rinnegan was a natural evolution and predecessor of the Sharingan, but his had no tomoe like was recorded on historical texts. Kosuke planned to return the Uchiha eyes to his body in an attempt to add tomoe to his Rinnegan.

Kosuke dashed into the fray, catching his first victim off guard. The power behind the slash tore a wound straight through his flak jacket. He brought his sword back around, slicing through the shinobi to his left as he turned to face the new threat. They were beginning to move once what had happened processed. Kosuke blocked one overhead swing with his sword, dropping his left hand from the hilt to generate a black receiver, an icon of the Rinnegan.

Kosuke plunged the rod into the enemy and shouldered him to the ground, continuing forward. All of the nearby shinobi had now registered the beginning of combat, turning their attention towards Kosuke. Blocking became the name of the game; he clenched his sword tight in his right hand, twirling and hopping to avoid and block incoming strikes. As the enemy’s attacks became more coordinated and more shinobi were able to attack at once without colliding with their allies, Kosuke spawned another black receiver as a blocking tool for his left hand.

Soon enough, there was no opportunity to strike at all -- Kosuke’s movements were all defensive. Enough of this.
“Shinra Tensei!” A short burst knocked back the surrounding shinobi, however, the enemy was prepared. One particularly bulky man rocketed towards Kosuke head on, arriving after the Almighty Push was already used. He blocked, of course, but the weight of the attack delivered by a massive hammer launched him back a good thirty meters.

Suddenly, Kosuke picked up on a completely different kind of chakra. The kind an Uchiha would make. He frantically scanned the crowd, looking for anyone with Uchiha markings. There he was, eighty meters out, right eye closed. It began to bleed, prompting Kosuke to weave the signs for an earth wall.
“Doton: Doryūheki!” (Earth Style: Earth Wall) He slammed his hand on the ground, erecting a wall twice his height, in good time, too. Black flames erupted on the wall where he would’ve been had he not protected himself. Kosuke acted quickly, slicing the section of the wall initially coated in the black flame. A solid punch to it’s back shot the half-meter wide tile forward into the crowd.

Kosuke clapped his hands and focused.
“Banshō Ten'in!” The chunk of his earth wall consumed by Amaterasu began to attract nearby shinobi and loose rocks. They quickly caught flame, spreading it to the growing ball of ninja that were gathering around the origin of the jutsu.
“Doton: Sōdaina Chikyū no Dōmu!” (Earth Style: Magnificent Earth Dome) The hellish pile of screaming shinobi covered in black flames were now contained by a large dome of solid rock. Kosuke wasn’t going to give the Uchiha in their ranks the chance to retract his black flame from his allies. Speaking of the Uchiha, Kosuke gazed over the mob of shinobi through the hole in his earth wall; they remained distracted by the events occurring nearby.

Kosuke gladly took the time to recharge his Deva Path’s ability; a Banshō Ten'in of that magnitude casted on an object so far away from himself was costly. It would be a good forty five seconds before he could use it again. However, there would be no rest for the wicked. A swift punch to his gut sent Kosuke tumbling back in the dirt. He was able to land on his feet eventually, sliding backwards still. Green energy filled his vision as the attacker continued his frontal assault. The fucker has opened a few gates. Kosuke received a kick to the jaw, sending him airborne. He was capable enough to predict the next attack, generating a black receiver and swinging it wildly to the right. It penetrated the skin of his opponent, halting their attack.

Kosuke landed without harm, cracking his neck. The sound of metal rattling on the ground came from behind. He turned to see his attacker was a girl, and she had pulled the rod from her leg and tossed it on the ground. How embarrassing it’ll be if I lose to a girl. Especially one that uses physical attacks. Kosuke couldn’t open any of the gates himself, for it seemed whatever gods tried to balance the universe kept him from gaining that extraordinary power in addition to his Rinnegan.

The Deva Path abilities were still recharging, but the Rinnegan offered other paths as well. He didn’t necessarily like to use them, but now was no time to be nitpicky. A quick panda summon blocked the girl’s blitz with it’s hardening ability. Kosuke had no idea what exactly the jutsu it used was and he didn’t really care -- it was solid enough to stop a punch from someone who had opened at least three gates. By the time the girl had recovered her bearings and stepped around the panda, Kosuke was gone.

He sat atop a hill inside the mouth of the Rinnegan’s chameleon summon. It was incredibly disgusting, but it worked. Nothing lasts forever, though. Sensory type ninjas interrupted his brief peace, pointing his pursuer in his direction. The poor chameleon took a harsh chop, de-summoning instantly. Still no Deva Path, though. Kosuke was blitzed yet again, however, he managed to run through his opponent’s calf with a black receiver before taking a blow. This time, he had a plan.

Kosuke wasted no time, generating several black receivers as he landed and chucking them towards the girl. She attempted to get up, but was interrupted when Kosuke channelled an intense amount of chakra through the rod in her leg, briefly taking control of it. She flopped onto the ground, now prone to his incoming receivers. Two more landed out of the five thrown, one in the shoulder and one in the gut. That would have to do for now; Kosuke had more important business to attend to.

The mob of shinobi had reached the bottom of the hill he stood on. Kosuke scanned the crowd for an Uchiha. He sighted only the one from before, standing relatively far away from the front line. Kosuke wasn’t sure on how to approach this. He didn’t have unlimited chakra and was still missing his Deva Path abilities -- there was no time to wait for either. Besides, gates-girl wouldn’t stay down forever.

The Asura Path was certainly his least favorite to use. It was incredibly tacky in Kosuke’s eyes and growing extra arms out of his back was not his style -- but maybe it was time for the ‘warring demon’ to come out. Dire times call for dire measures. Arms blew out of his back, launching smoke bombs and missiles in all directions. Kosuke strengthened his legs and rocketed forward towards his prized target. The Uchiha dodged his initial attack while projectiles rained down onto the army.

Kosuke and the Uchiha began in a bout of taijutsu, in which the Uchiha clearly had the upper hand. Suddenly, he felt it. The Deva Path was back. He waited to get close to eliminate any possibility of Susano’o getting in between him and the auch ins. An unsuspected Banshō Ten'in drew his enemy through his black receiver. Kosuke jumped up in the air and used a rocket modification to blast him away, Uchiha impaled on the black rod in his hand. They landed almost an entire kilometer away, and Kosuke began the transition immediately. The guy screamed as his eyes were ripped out casually by Kosuke. He felt a glimpse of remorse, the man had only begun combat and didn't expect it to end so quickly. A waste of the sharingan.

“These better be eternal.” Kosuke said as he held the left eyeball up to his left eye. He had never exactly done this before, but it was now or never. As he funneled chakra into medical ninjutsu, the eye suddenly disappeared, and his left eye went blind. Kosuke recoiled from the pain, but let loose a wide grin. It felt like it worked; he couldn't open the eye yet, but he felt strength returning to it. Kosuke began with the other eye. It melded into his right eye as quickly, leaving him completely blind. The Uchiha was still groaning on the ground below him, to which Kosuke took a shot in the dark and chucked some chakra receivers.

The noise stopped and Kosuke plopped to the ground. Might as well take a seat while waiting. He continued funneling chakra into his eyes through a medical jutsu. Almost a minute passed before Kosuke felt prepared. He slowly opened his eyes.

It was majestic; Kosuke could see the fading chakra of the Uchiha incredibly clearly. Several bugs flew around the area, all of which Kosuke could track with ease.
“These eyes are nice.” Kosuke turned and ran back towards the battlefield. His Asura Path modifications disappeared; he no longer needed them with the added power of the sharingan.

Kosuke was interrupted by gates-girl. She had broken free by opening the fourth gate. This would've spelled trouble for him five minutes ago, but his new eyes, filled with twelve tomoe altogether, permitted him to see faster than she could move. Her punch was easily blocked. Kosuke grabbed her wrist and tossed her back the way she came. He followed up with intense speed. As he leaked the hill, he saw that his throw had gone further than he expected.

They met halfway, clashing in front of the shinobi army. A quick Taijutsu scuffle led to Kosuke getting a grasp on her head.
“Banshō Ten'in.” Kosuke said calmly. The girl’s skull collapsed from the universal pull. Her head imploded, spilling cranial matter on his right hand. Her body dropped to the ground as Kosuke turned to face the rest of the ninja. He felt good, great even. Maybe it was time to test out the abilities of the sharingan.

His eyes suddenly started bleeding profusely as the yellow aura of Susano’o flared up. Kosuke screamed in agony, yet was unwilling to abandon the attempt. Half of the rib cage was formed when his right eye gave out. It felt completely unresponsive.
“No…” His hand held his head in pain. “No, no, no… NOOO!” His left eye went blind as well. Kosuke fell to his knees, blood dripping from his now ruined eyes. The Sharingan had rejected his body and his Rinnegan.

Episode 1: No Ramen For The Wicked

“What are we doing here again?” Fulvius and Hooke had just arrived in Okagakure after two long days of travel.
“O, brother mine! Do you not see the children playing in the streets? The flowers blooming in the fields? O, brother mine! The festivities Illumi-”
“Right. Kuria’s Kage celebration.” Fulvius interrupted him, answering his own question. Hooke looked defeated, having had his monologue interrupted.

A set of eyes peered from a nearby alley.
“My fuhrer, the nut-jobs from the Hidden Metal have arrived, my fuhrer.”
“Yes, yes. Good observation skills, young one.”
“My Fuhrikage, their leader looks angry. What measures do we take, mein fuhrer?”
“We must raise taxes by 10%! Our border with them must be reinforced. The ocean is only so wide, you know.”
“Genius thinking, Lord Fuhrikage. We must return to the village immediately to prepare for their pending invasion.”
“Exactly my thoughts, unterführer. Let the annals of history never speak of our unpreparedness for war, my-”

“What are you goons doing in the dumpster?” Fulvius and Hooke had reached the alley in which the Yukikage and his elder were plotting.
“Mein fuhrer, the enemy seems to have spotted us. What course of action must we take?” Chikai whispered to her Kage.
“We first must execute the traitors that led them to us!” Kuro stood up, vaulted out of the dumpster and fled.
“You will pay for this intrusion!” Chikai followed her Kage’s lead. Halfway down the alley, she turned and ran back to the dumpster. She reached for a piece of paper that had “Yukigakure Secret Hideout” scribbled on it hastily. Chikai tore it off and ran away. Fulvius noticed it had covered a bright yellow sign that read “CAUTION. DO NOT PLAY IN THE DUMPSTER.”

“Where the hell did you get that?” Fulvius snatched a fork from Hooke’s hand. His chopsticks sat idle next to the bowl of ramen.
“I brought it with me from the Metal…” He muttered, seemingly ashamed.
“You don't know how to use chopsticks?”
Hooke ignored the question, instead deciding to pull out a second fork.
“How fucking deprived are you?” Fulvius shook his head and returned to his own ramen.

“You boys are from the Hidden Metal?” A deep voice loomed in the air. Fulvius looked over his shoulder towards the speaker. It came from a tall man with dark brown hair covered by the hat of a Kage. If the color scheme of his robe and hat didn't give away his identity, the word “Dust” written on it certainly did.
“Lord Hokorikage.” Fulvius stood up and bowed before the man.
“Errr…”  Hayame was confused on what title to use. He couldn’t care less about the politics of the Hidden Metal and/or who held what title.
“Lord Raimei.” He tipped his Kage hat smoothly. Fulvius looked past the Hokorikage at the group of Dust Shinobi bumping a small dust tornado around outside, attempting to keep it in the circle they formed.
Suddenly, the Yukikage burst through the door, muttering about dust savages and their barbaric games. His entourage of Snow Shinobi stood outside in a strict line behind Chikai.

“Table for eight, good kind sir.” Kuro said to the man behind the counter which Fulvius and Hooke sat at.
“Excuse me, Yukikage, I believe the Hidden Dust arrived here first.” Hayame said calmly. Fulvius patted Hooke’s left arm twice, their subtle sign for “let's fuckin dip before this shitstorm turns into a shit-hurricane.”

Kuro put on a puzzled look, turning towards the Ennia brothers, who were casually strolling to the back exit.
“Fulvius, my guy, could you help me out here?” He started. “You see, I'm not an inbred troglodyte and I can't understand this ape banging rocks and ooking around. It seems to be a commonality within that Dust village -- do you think you could maybe translate for me?”

Hayame’s chakra erupted, becoming visible as a sandy brown cloak. He spoke in a deep, commanding voice.
“Speak ill of my people again and-”

“AND YOU’LL WHAT?!” Kuro’s chakra flared up in the same fashion, taking on a light blue color instead.
“I WILL FUCK YOU UP!” The Yukikage yelled boisterously over the enormous noise their chakra made as it stirred up the atmosphere, splintering the wood floors along with nearby objects.

The usual signs signifying sage mode for Hayame, red lines on the face and white hair, began to sprout. Kuro didn’t need sage mode; he simply increased the intensity of his chakra, completely shattering the floor underneath him and exploding the chairs closest to him. A man in a dark robe placed a hand on the shoulder of each Kage.

“No such violence will occur.” Both Kage settled down immediately, perhaps due to a suppressing jutsu by the newcomer.
“We are here to honor a friend, not start a war.” Fulvius could recognize that man anywhere; the stoic Kaminarikage, with his glowing red eyes, was quite the sight to behold. Fulvius wiped the sweat off his face and turned to look at Hooke, who seemed unfazed. He held the bowl of ramen in his left hand, noisily slurping noodles. How the meal remained in the bowl and Fulvius’ sword didn’t stay in its sheath was a mystery, but alas, it had.

Fulvius wove hand signs in his right hand and fixed his cloak with his left. He drew the immediate attention of all three kages once the jutsu was cast -- they could sense the chakra being expent. A coil of lightning extended from his wrist and grasped onto the handle of his sword. It pulled the saber from the wall and returned it to its sheath. It was possibly one of the most awkward moments he had experienced. All three kage watched the jutsu slowly run its course while he stood there, wide eyed.

“Uh… Good day, l-lads.” Fulvius awkwardly threw a bag of coins onto the counter, bowed once again and hastily walked out the back door with Hooke in tow. The three kage muttered something inaudible back and turned to the owner of the store.

Reminance spoke up first. “I’ll take the biggest table you’ve got.”
“I second his request.”
“As do I.”

The shopkeeper gulped and opened his mouth to speak, with obvious regret for what he was about to say.
“Our t-tables have been… booked, per say. I’m sorry gentlemen, but I’ve got no r-room for all yer shinobi.” As if on queue, Satoru and Yokiro Nii strolled into the shop, followed by around a dozen Hidden Haze shinobi. The three Kage were absolutely stupefied; they had all just been countered by what they considered a village in the middle of nowhere, for nobody and at no time to be acknowledged.

“......yeeeaaaaah......” Kuro muttered. He looked towards the other Kage, who were embarrassedly playing with their hair and fixing their clothes.
“You all wanna go hit up a bar?” Hayame suggested. Reminance and Kuro muttered their approval, and together, the shinobi shuffled out of the ramen shop.

what's up lads, I'll be doing writing episodes of SLO that will be like fillers. There will be no serious plot development, just characters hanging around. It will be set in the Hidden hill.

Link your character below if you'd like to possibly be in them. Also, if your character's personality isn't well defined, you can add how they act in your post.

Shinobi Life Online Clans / Clan Ennia
« on: December 10, 2016, 05:15:12 »
Ennia
"A man's worth is no greater than his ambitions."

Ennia is a clan foreign to the shinobi nations, with its current patriarch, Fulvius Ennia Raimei, being the first leader born on the island. They trace their ancestry to the original rulers of a distant island with a distinctly different culture; hence the name Ennia.

For the longest time, Ennia had one major bloodline that took a third name, Fulminatus, to denote their heritage. Following the death of the clan's patriarch, Fulvius inherited the position. Reforms were enacted; hoping to integrate the clan into the local culture, House Fulminatus was changed to House Raimei. In conjunction with the renaming, minor families scattered throughout the island were given the right to form houses. Since then, Ennia has welcomed many new houses into its ranks.

Houses

Houses provide an internal identity for each clan member. Besides being of Ennia, members may join a house that contains their immediate family, rather than one clan with many distant relatives. Each House has its own patriarch or matriarch depending on the current head of the house. Members may choose to not apply for a house, however, this disqualifies them from inheriting any titles or possessions as well as joining a House Guard.

Naming Procedure

All members have their own personal name as their first name. Example; Fulvius.
All members have the name Ennia as their second name, to denote their membership in the clan. Example; Fulvius Ennia.
Members are recommended to join a house, which is a specific bloodline family. It adds a third name (cognomen) onto their full title. Example; Fulvius Ennia Raimei

Elder Rank System and Succession

Ranks

Clan Ennia only has a few ranks, mostly to determine the established and elderly members from the unknown. Members of specific houses are treated no differently than those without a house except in inheritance.

Clan Patriarch
Clan Elder
House Patriarch
House Elder
Member

Elder System

Elders are appointed by the Clan Patriarch as a quasi-governing body. The clan does not impose laws upon its subjects, however, it can act as a third party court system for clan members. Clan Elders also vote for the next Clan Patriarch when the current one dies. It is tradition to appoint the oldest son of the previous patriarch, however, throughout history, they have sometimes defied tradition. House Elders do not vote who a certain House will go to next, however, they are moderators in regards to House activity.

Application

New Members

Players must show an interest to the head of the house they are applying to. If they are accepted, the head of the house will choose how they are related. Those applying for no house needn't specify a relation, however they are not considered blood family and cannot join a house unless the head chooses to adopt them. All house members will receive a place on the family tree. To apply now, fill out the form in the spoiler below. So today I ordered the parts for my first computer build, after using various shit laptops for my entire life. Just thought I'd post the parts and get some feedback, as I have no idea myself how good they are. I had a friend help me pick them out.

Just to clarify, I've never built a PC before, nor do I have any idea how it works, so bear with me.

He uses a sword like the one the picture or like Darui's and Omoi's swords.

He's all about lightning...infusing his sword with lightning, using the lightning release chakra mode to increase his speed and reaction. Think of the 3rd Raikage, the 4th Raikage, Darui, Omoi even Killua ( from hunter x hunter) rolled into one lol.

Isei stood over a rocky bluff, his eyes focused on what appeared to be a person below on the rocks. No - a child. He debated just leaving it alone, but then again, he was looking for a smaller target. He had grumbled and mumbled about having to hunt some kid, but the Yugure had decided it was his turn. Reluctantly, he grabbed hold of his sheathed katana with his left hand and held his right hand towards the dark skies. Lightning struck his hand as he blinked, supplementing his chakra with electric power. When he looked back towards where the kid had been, he was gone. Isei’s brow furrowed. He looked around, but his target was nowhere to be found.

Just as he was about to give up the short-lived pursuit, Isei felt a presence approaching rapidly to his left. The crackling lightning chakra spurred him into action; he turned towards the challenger and crouched. Both hands now rested on the hilt of his blade. His eyes barely had enough time to adjust before the attack came. Isei made an attempt to draw and slice in one motion, but his assailant was too quick and the strike missed. He was, however, able to duck his head in time for the kick to fly over where it used to be. He could now confirm it was his target. Isei knew it would take some time for the kid to turn and redirect his - WHAM!

Kuria had landed a direct overhead kick. His new Wind Wall Jutsu had paid off. He had conjured one directly behind Isei; it came in useful to bounce off when his initial attack inevitably missed.
“No time to be wasted, old man.” Kuria said with a grin. Isei scoffed and hopped a few feet back.
“I’m not even that old…”
“Yeah? Well, you move like my grandpa.” Kuria laughed and charged, bare-fisted. He hadn’t actually brought his sword along to the beach. To be fair, he hadn’t expected to find Sloth of Katakiuchi, either. An initial right kick was blocked by Isei’s forearm, his own right arm blazing into a ball of lightning as it shot forward. Kuria’s eyes widened as the lightning followed him despite several backflips.
“Dangerous, that is. Didn’t your mother teach you to be careful with dangerous toys?” He had finally come to a halt, and so had Isei’s jutsu.
“Got quite the mouth, kid. Didn’t your mother teach you to shut the fuck up?” Isei wasn’t about to deal with some twelve year old taunting him.

Isei retracted his lightning beam, electing to throw it directly at Kuria instead of using it as a melee weapon. Several smaller balls of lightning flew from Isei’s source. Kuria dodged to the right, unable to see that his adversary had charged him. The following katana slice whiffed just barely, cutting a few hairs from Kuria’s head. Kuria followed up with an elbow to Isei’s stomach. It connected, causing Isei to stumbled a few feet backwards. He was prepared for the next strike, however. His lightning reflexes blocked an incoming right punch, and in no time, a right kick carried by the momentum created by the punch.

Kuria continued the motion of his attacks, spinning past Isei. He immediately drew a kunai and lunged back towards Isei’s midriff. Both shinobi stopped. Kuria looked at the situation he was in. His kunai was millimeters away from Isei’s stomach, and Isei’s katana millimeters from his neck.
“This is awkward.” Kuria stated the obvious. Isei grunted in agreement. They both looked from the weapons facing them to their enemy’s eyes repeatedly. Suddenly, both jumped away. Isei grinned, and lightning imbued further into his chakra. It was physically visible now, sparks jumping out from parts of his skin.

Kuria’s pleasant disposition changed little as Isei’s speed ramped up. He landed a solid punch, almost too quick for Kuria to notice. He didn’t react, but instead let the punch hit. A small amount of blood came out, but it didn’t stop Kuria from returning the favor, twice as powerful. Isei’s body itself moved as a result of the blow to his face. He landed on his feet, but staggered up to a full stance. He felt like an idiot, punching a kid only to get punched harder back. He frowned and looked back to Kuria. The kid just stood there, a grin on his face. Isei immediately began forming hand seals. Kuria’s eyebrow raised in curiosity.

“Water Style: Stampede!” Isei gathered his breath and blew wolves, tigers, birds, bulls and even a dragon towards Kuria. He followed it up with two water clones. He sent one clone to run with the pack of animals, and had the other throw him over the top of the stampede. Clandestinely, he formed the hand signs for a Water Meld Jutsu. As it was ready, he reached the range of Kuria, who was preoccupied with a side flip over an angry bull. He sliced with his katana lazily, easily missing and falling prey to Kuria’s returned kunai. The Water Meld Jutsu activated, sending him to the ground in a shower of water. As planned, Kuria thought nothing of it while he continued to slice and dice through the stampede.

Without delay, Isei’s two clones tag teamed Kuria. More puddles had occupied the ground where the stampede had been stopped. Isei watched as his clones threw punches at an increasingly speedy Kuria. His attention peaked when one clone grabbed hold of his arm, prompting the other clone to attempt the same with the other arm. Kuria’s kunai suddenly vibed with wind chakra, creating a lengthened blade. The second clone stood no chance, it splashed onto the ground, leaving only the one grappling Kuria’s left arm. He turned the blade around, prepared to strike.
“I had fun. Won't be seeing you anytime soon, though.” Kuria plunged the blade into the clone. A look of surprise overtook his face when it became of puddle of water as well.
It was too late for him to move; Isei was barely a meter away, poised to strike. Kuria did what he could; summon. Isei’s katana cut deep into an eagle. Kuria twisted as quick as he could, trying to land a blow with his wind blade before Isei created distance. He could feel the resistance as the sword hit something.

The avian shrieked in pain as Isei’s katana sliced through its back. Meanwhile, Kuria’s blade had sawed halfway through Isei’s forearm. It took all of his will to not let out a scream. He let go of his katana and leapt backwards. His breathing became ragged and he grabbed near where he was cut with his left hand. Kuria wasted no time on the offense. He dashed straight to Isei only to receive a surprisingly quick kick to the stomach. Isei immediately held his good hand up to the sky. Thunder began to rumble above. Kuria knew he had to stop whatever was happening, so he charged back in again. Isei vaulted over the incoming kid, keeping his hand held to the sky. As his back brushed against Kuria’s hair, lightning struck.

Kuria had planted another Wind Wall, bouncing off it only to face a prepared Isei. He was bloodied - his right arm hung at his side, unresponsive. His left arm exploded with lightning, focused at his hand. The look of insanity was finished with a kunai firmly in his mouth.
“The same trick as last time?” Kuria yelled as they neared; wind blade in his hand, chidori in Isei’s. Before Kuria could get within striking range, the chidori intensified, expanding outwards. He had no choice other than to try and block it with his wind blade. The battling chakras flung him back, his blade fizzling into non existence.

Isei believed he had won. Kuria had been sent flying, his sword had been fried. There's no way he could get up afte - a presence blew into his mind. During his flight, Kuria had thrown open four gates in rapid succession. He groaned and jumped back over towards his katana. It was blood coated, but it would still work. He turned back towards Kuria. He had one eye closed and his clothes were torn in several places. Isei knew there was no way the chidori had no effect on him. He looked down towards his right arm. It was messily wrapped in some cloth torn from his hands.

Before he looked up, Kuria was directly in front of him. He landed a solid punch to the stomach and positioned himself for a kick to the head. Isei threw up his good arm, charged with lightning. It stopped Kuria’s kick and gave him a bit of a zap, but the kid himself was still rampaging.
“You'll fry your arm if you keep using it like that.” Isei couldn't even make out where Kuria was, but he could still hear his taunts. Then he felt it. Closing in quickly from behind. He quickly swung around, pointing his sword towards the attacker. Kuria’s kick was deterred for a second, causing him to flip upwards, grabbing the top of Isei’s robe as he went.

Unexpectedly, the robe came off instead of bringing Isei with it. Kuria’s eyes widened when he saw the inside coated with paper bombs. He tried to toss it to the side, but they exploded before he could make much distance from it. It threw him to the side. As he tumbled on the ground, Isei dashed with his katana prepared to strike. Kuria came to a stop as the blade came slicing towards him. He rolled to the side and kicked upwards with both feet. It looked like they hit, but instead they went straight through Isei. He immediately recognized the genjutsu, but it was too late. The real Isei had been furiously weaving hand signs for the past twenty seconds.

“Lightning Style: Forbidden Heavenly Smite!” The clouds above Kuria swirled as lightning jumped. He quickly moved to his feet, but it was too late. Thousands of lightning bolts coalesced into a large pillar of energy. It shot towards Kuria faster than the eye could see. Isei covered his eyes with his left arm as his attack pounded the ground, sending debris in all directions. Isei grinned. This battle was over. He tried to move, but intense pain rippled through his body. He looked down.

Kuria had punched clean through his stomach. There was something different about him, though. He had at least seven gates open; maybe he had made the ultimate sacrifice and activated the last one. Isei couldn't see - his vision was fading. He collapsed to the ground as everything went black.

Organization of Organizations
By: America

I have been prompted for the second or third time, by the current Yugure, to rejoin Katakiuchi. In this essay I will be laying out my thoughts behind the Yugure in specific parts. For the most part, I will be attempting to explain the cause of Katakiuchi’s original popularity, the reasons for its abandonment, the lasting effect of the first generation of Yugure, my decision and my plans to reorganize the group.

When I joined in July of 2014, there was no organization or clan board. My first organization, if I can remember correctly, was called the Yugure. I created it with m4r1us, a prominent member of the forums at the time. Because there was no organization board, we elected to create our own forum for this fledgling group. The forum lasted only a few days and had less than ten members before it was abandoned. We stuck to a Skype group chat for the time being. Throughout the month, many members of the forum agreed that a board to create and join organizations would be useful. Somewhere along this time, Brayden (Xendrus…) joined our humble crew.

Vreg was eventually persuaded, and the two boards were created. Immediately, Indigo’s Katakiuchi was created, as seen here: [https://www.shinobilifeonline.com/index.php?topic=738.0] m4r1us, Xendrus… and myself took more time to plan out our organization which had coinciding goals with Katakiuchi. We realized this and decided to talk with Indigo about merging instead of creating our own organization. This is something that does not happen on the forum today. To be crass, I think it should. So many organizations exist today with similar goals, but none will merge because of the fear of losing power or purpose.

Returning to our story; the talks were successful and Katakiuchi was born: [https://www.shinobilifeonline.com/index.php/topic,711.0.html] The dates and topic numbers on the post are wrong due to Vreg deleting the organization during a heated argument; and eventually putting it back in a different place. It also was my post originally, but Vreg gave it to Indigo because he was less irritable. We compromised on power, creating a just system of seven Yugure who would lead. This early creating of our organization became the center of its power. There were no organizations before this, and suddenly, Katakiuchi was there. Along with a few others, of course.

Katakiuchi had the luxury of recruiting any member it could, there were no rogue organizations to compete. Today, any organization has to compete with others of its kind for the limited pool of new players that come around. Among the recruits were AugustRed and LuveniA, followed soon by my own real life friend InfinityQuake. And thus, the first Yugure was complete. We at first followed the rules of the Yugure closely, voting on every decision that was made. The skype chat was used only for discussion of Katakiuchi and SLO. This quickly changed as we got used to each other. AugustRed became inactive, and we voted Shadow1759 into the mix. Soon, any member would just do as they pleased, knowing well that nobody else would give a damn. m4r1us and Indigo became a mod, and I was picked up by Vreg to write as a developer.

So, around about December, our egos began to inflate. We were the original rogue group, and it almost looked like it was sponsored by SLO itself. EternalEyes joined as a regular member and Xendrus… was made a mod. People wanted to be near us; we commanded authority. The promise of a kekkei genkai to the mods and devs for their help on the project was a guarantee of power in game. We would routinely gang up on other players from rival organizations, and would almost always win. In the end, mods have the last say, right? The rest of the Yugure’s story is largely irrelevant to this portion of the essay and I'm sure many of you know it already, so it will be skipped.

The main lesson to take from this story is this:
  • When Katakiuchi was first created, it had access to old and new members due to no prior organizations
  • Organizations do not have this privilege today, there are competing organizations and there are few open members
  • Similar organizations were willing to merge back then
  • Moderator and Developer power made the Yugure more special than usual

The abandonment of the Yugure happened after a long standing divide between the members of the forum, specifically Katakiuchi’s enemies and the Yugure themselves. Ideas on organizations had sparked into much more aggressive conversations, mostly just ad hominem insults. Vreg eventually withdrew his offer of a kekkei genkai to mods and devs due to complaints of unfairness by the community. Indigo and Xendrus were able to stay above the arguments for the most part, but the rest fervently shitposted alongside myself. Katakiuchi began to decline due to our bad reputation and the lack of new members in general.

We had little support and the enemy was growing larger and larger every day. M4r1us and I specifically felt surrounded, as we lead the war on our side. M4r1us eventually decided to give up his mod position, quit the forum altogether and moved on. I soon followed him, and then the rest of the Yugure. Xendrus is still a mod to this day, but most of you know he's pretty inactive. As I left, I gave the organization to Shivraj, who I trusted most to lead it. Shivraj was, and is still a trusted member of the community.

The real fervor and passion of Katakiuchi died when the original Yugure left. The new leaders didn't fight against our old enemies. They lead the organization peacefully, which was a relief to others. If you want to know shivraj’s story on how he lead the Yugure, you are going to have to ask him, I was not around after I left Katakiuchi.

During the spring of 2014, I found a Roman-themed group on Roblox. (I know, sue me) ironically, it was on this kids game that I found a high concentration of neo-nazis. They were all throughout the senate and the higher offices. The details of this Roman group are irrelevant, but I eventually found myself a leading commander of the Urban Cohorts, a group of about 50 people. It was here that I learned to how to lead and deal with inactivity. I served for about six months, and every day during the summer I would get up and check the skype group chat. If there was nothing going on, I would slap on the caps lock and start yelling.

It came to me quickly that there were usually two kinds of soldiers; the ones who want to participate and those who no longer want to be there. You need structure in your groups, like was established in the Roman groups. Also a very important thing that SLO organizations are lacking is junior officers. Someone below administrative duty, but authorized to lead in game. A centurion is what we had. You need these junior officers to be the most active, the most dedicated, the most passionate, etc. This is something I failed to establish in the original Katakiuchi due to lack of experience. The Officer rank was a stepping stone, but not quite there yet.

Most people will immediately promote their friends and anyone active enough to a very high rank. This causes the Chief and Indian problem as I call it. I had an old leader in the Urban Cohorts named Atticus. Atticus would host a lot of trainings and patrols, but the officers were always more dedicated than the soldiers, and showed up more often. At any given training, you would have more officers than soldiers, and it was almost pointless to have the training. Atticus would then always say:
“Looks like we have more Chiefs than Indians.” (I mean Indians in the Native American way, as he referred to it like so.) This problem is rampant in SLO. It was apparent in Katakiuchi, too. The Yugure were more active than any of the low ranks.

It is very important to set up a hierarchy; it leaves something to be desired. In the Urban Cohorts, there were many ranks to climb through, which gave the impression to low ranks that they could one day be a leader too. THIS IS IMPORTANT. The low ranks need to feel like there is something to advance to if they stay. Otherwise, they leave and become a Super Commander in Jimmy Smith’s organization, which fails due to the Chief and Indian problem causing inactivity. I'll leave the entire ranking system of the Urban Cohorts in this spoiler. In organizations on SLO currently, there should be maybe one Senior Commander; the leader of the org. There simply aren't enough people to have five+ senior commanders when only two low ranks would show up when called.

Spoiler: show
Low Ranks Begin; Tiro, Miles, Immunes, Sesquiplicarius, Duplicarius, Triplicarius. Junior Officers Begin; Optio, Centurion, Primus Pilus, Praefectus. Senior Officers Begin; Tribunus Angusticlavius, Tribunus Laticlavius, Praefectus Urbanae

Another point I'll stress is the trainings. You need to get your Officers to host trainings. During my time in the Urban Cohorts, our mock Roman group was dying due to lack of content. We had one outpost made and scripted which we patrolled and trained at. It didn't matter, though. I held trainings every day to cover the basic skills even if we did the same thing yesterday, and the day before. War games were also a big thing; every once in awhile the legions and the Urban Cohorts would have large battles and the winning unit would get prizes.

Most of the recruits to the Urban Cohorts were kids, and their parents weren't comfortable with them using voice chats, but we required them to have skype for typing only. It is preferable to use voice communication in game, but you MUST atleast have discord or skype chat for organization. Require them to join your discord or skype as a part of the application process, and if they leave, they must be kicked from the group. COMMUNICATION IS KEY. You as the leading officer should be willing to issue commands over voice chat. The others should just listen with their mic muted.

Organize trainings often. Get anyone who is online to join you in game to practice movements, hand seal speed, dueling, ANYTHING. If they show up frequently, promote them to a higher rank. Not an officer yet, by any means. A shinobi should have at least 50 trainings under their belt before being considered for JUNIOR officer rank. When I say considered, that doesn't mean promoted after a minute of thought. Test them harshly, and really think if they are worthy of the rank. A list of possible exercises will be left in the spoiler below.

Spoiler: show
Run around the map in a line, keep good spacing. Hand seal speed testing. 1v1 duels. 2v2 duels with colored jackets for the teams. Larger battles even. Dodging practice. You can always come up with more.

Don't be afraid to demote people. I was demoted several times in the Urban Cohorts, yet I never left. I was dedicated to the group, and my dedication paid off when I became the Tribunus Laticlavius. (second highest rank) If they are truly devoted, they will stay and fix the mistakes that caused them to be demoted. If they aren't devoted and leave, why would you want them in your organization in first place? Don't lose sleep over it.

Trello. Organization beyond the original post is necessary. In the Urban Cohorts, we used a website called Trello. All of the rules were listed there, the uniform was listed, an in depth member list, etc. We also were required to post a picture proving we held a training. On the card was the date, the list of members attending and the picture including all of the attendees. Or most of them, if some had to leave early. You don't need to use Trello, as you could post stuff like this onto the org thread, but that could be overwhelming and poorly organized. Not to mention it looks like you are post whoring and bumping excessively.

The next part is about discipline. I know by now I have thrown out the order and structure in this essay, but I had more ideas than I originally thought. In the Urban Cohorts, low ranks were allowed to say three words while on duty. “YES” “NO” and the rank of the present officer. To say their rank was to ask for permission to speak freely for a moment; to ask a question or give a suggestion, etc. I don't suggest you enforce that exact system, as it was very strict, but you need some sort of discipline.

To sum up the past few paragraphs about leading;
You need discord or skype, and everyone that joins your organization needs to join it. There should only be one senior officer and up to five junior officers per fifty low ranks. You should have at least ten ranks in your organization, to leave something to be desired for the newcomers. If they can't rank up, why participate? Use voice chat with those who can, but don't require it. Organize using Trello. (preferably) Enforce discipline. Promote based on skill and dedication, not relationship to the person. Don't be afraid to demote.

Now, finally, I present my decision to not rejoin Katakiuchi. Personally, I don't have the time or passion to rejoin with Katakiuchi. Outside of personal reasons; I don't know if I can return Kata to old glory. The circumstances are not the same as what propelled it upwards originally. There is too much competition between organizations for the few undecided members. Also, Katakiuchi, but mostly the Yugure, opened a split in the forum that I don't want to see return. It was very hostile for months, and the aftermath almost collapsed the project. I'd like to stay on friendly terms with the forum goers and stick with the Scribe’s Guild.

I provide this information in lieu of my return.

If you skipped to the end just to see my decision, you're a faggot.

Naruto Fanworks / A Legacy Continued
« on: October 17, 2016, 16:28:26 »
A new chapter begins.

“My lords. We bow down to you. We humble ourselves before you.” I could hear. I could feel; suddenly light bursted into my eyes and life began once again. The colors sorted themselves out, images became clear. I was in a basement. No, rather, some sort of crypt. Before I could look around, I noticed that not only was my physical body limited, but my chakra felt as if there were restrictive chains around it. Crack. Crack. Crack. My head tilted to the right. Crack. Crack. Crack. It felt good to crack my neck finally. After… Being dead for… How many years had it been? I didn't actually know.

“Where am I? Who are you?” I heard a voice to my right that I recognized. Yusuke. The tenth damn Kage. His hair was still as gray as when he died. He noticed me looking at him.
“Makino! Grand to see you, old friend. You don't look a day older than I remember…” The conclusion came to him suddenly. “Tell me I did not send you too soon to your death.” I shook my head. I couldn't blame him in the slightest.

“Three days I think it was.” I stopped and looked at the intricate symbols on the ground before me. I sighed and gathered my thoughts. “I was Kage for three days.” Yusuke dropped his head, maybe in disappointment of me, or himself.
“So that war was not well founded?” I shook my head again. Someone cleared their throat off to the side of the room.

“We've reincarnated you with the Impure World Reincarnation. Our village is in trouble, and we need your help. Desperately.” I turned to look at the voice. There seemed to be five or six young shinobi crowded into this decrepit room, along with… About four reincarnations. More Kage? They certainly had the look of it. And the robe. Yes, the one on the other side of Yusuke read “Fourth Heizukage.” The other to my left read “Seventh Heizukage.” Where were the rest?

“I can see that you're wondering where the rest of the Kage are, well… We couldn't find anything of theirs that could be used to revive them.” I stood up on my wobbly legs.
“And you consider me a Kage?” I looked towards the shinobi who presented himself as their leader.
“Yes. We are some of the few people who actually believe you were right. You've gone done in history mostly as a tyrant. A usurper. But we don't think so.” I frowned. Of course. I could tell Yusuke felt uneasy next to me. Perhaps he wondered what I could've done in my short reign to be regarded so poorly.
“And how long have I been dead?”
“Almost eighteen years, sir.” He answered. Damn. Eighteen whole years have passed without me. Of course, to me, it felt like I had just died mere minutes ago.

“Who is Kage now?” Yusuke asked.
“Hirumi - she's been Kage since Makino died.” Yusuke smiled at this answer.
“A nice girl, I'm sure she has done well.” My frown turned into a scowl and my brow furrowed upon hearing that. Yusuke could sense my negative emotions seeping into the room.
“You seem discontent with that, Makino? Tell me, what happened after I went?” I could feel all eyes on me. Neither the seventh or the fourth had said anything, but I knew they were silently judging this conversation.

“Before you speak, Lord Yosai, I'd like to tell it how we were raised to believe. If that's alright with you, that is.” I nodded and motioned for him to continue.
“Alright, well, it begins with the Battle of the Plains of Ribo.” His voice faded away as I remembered the battle from my perspective.

“MAKINO!” Yusuke’s loud voice broke my concentration. It was held on nothing important, of course, but I couldn't help it. It was a windy day on these Plains. Of… Rido? Robe? Ribo? Ribo. Yeah, that was it. An aerial map sat on the table in front of me, pinned down in the corners by kunai. Yusuke was trying to get my attention. The other twenty or so division commanders standing around the table were staring in disbelief at me.
“Yes sir! Sorry, sir.” He shook his head. Maeda let out a chuckle next to me and elbowed my stomach.
“You and your second division will be leading the left flank.” He ordered, pointing to the left side of the map near a hill.
“An honor, sir.” He closed his eyes and sighed.
“You ALWAYS lead the left flank, Makino. Maeda ALWAYS leads the right flank, I ALWAYS take the center. I needn't remind you, right?” Such is the life of the third in command.

I nodded and grinned a bit. Some laughs made their way around the table, but I didn't mind. It seemed cheering up these guys was harder than leading them, and I was happy to try.
“Orthodox battle plan. I want you two to split half your forces and leapfrog them behind the enemy. Or into them, if circumstance permits. You all are experienced, you know how I like my battles conducted. Easy victory here, my friends.” He got up from his chair to stand on equal ground as his lieutenants.
We all saluted, and he returned the gesture.

Half an hour later, I stood at the head of a column of twelve hundred shinobi. We faced three horizontal lines of Okagakure and Morigakure ninja. All but the wind was silent as the two armies stared each other down.

Tell me if you like where this is going, etc, all and any feedback is great.
