( I had alot of trouble writing this part, donno why it just didnt feel right but i kept it just to make things move along)

Exam 1 :
[/b]
There’s an uproar. Genin intent on passing the test. Intent on being the first to pass. 100 genin fought between each other. A battle royale, the prize, one key, for one door.

Saeko stood near his teammates. Hide and Mura. Hide was the shortest of the two also the most enthusiastic. Best friend to Saeko. He was always hyper and smiling. Everyone who met him though it was odd even his teammates. It was almost like his face was shaped to hold a permanent smile.

Mura was the normal one in her team. A normal life, normal family. She kept the team sane. The kindest girl they knew, although she did not look it. Her dark long hair and bangs that almost coverd her eyes, gave a sort of sinister feel from her. Her cold facial features always made people feel uncomfortable around her.

Saeko never spoke much. He found it difficult to make normal conversation. The only things that usually come out of his were stats and other smart stuff. His teammates were the only ones he could speak freely with.

Hours went by, and the battles raged on. Half the hall destroyed. Every so often a body would drop, most likely dead. But something was wrong. Saeko could feel it, something was out of place, the hall looked different.

Saeko scanned around, many of the teams that were spectating or looking for the other keys during the battle, were gone! 6 doors had been opened!!

But how, when? Saeko kept asking himself. How did he let himself get so distracted that he didn’t notice the sudden disappearance of those that were behind him? The teams behind them were frantically searching for the keys. Except for one team, who sat by themselves watching the dwindling numbers fall in battle.

“Guys we need to get moving now.” Saeko addressed his teammates, head spinning, scanning the building all over. “Well there’s still the problem of the hall being empty. Where do we look?” Hide questioned, chuckling to himself.

“Not necessarily. Remember the landing that fell down, that’s where the other genin found the first key.” Saeko’s eyes narrowed, fixed on the rubble that was once a landing.

“So you want us to go through them?” Mura asked pointing towards the group of genin that were still going at each other’s throats.

Hide bounced on the spot, flexing his arms. “Finally. I could feel my bones creaking.” Without another word the moved. Fast and swift, moving through the masses, eyes fixed one point.

They avoided any unnecessary fights, dodging each blade, fist and leg that swung at them. They reached the landing, and began searching. “There’s nothing here and we’re running out of time.” Mura pointed out.

Saeko raised his head, beads of sweat rolled down his face. He didn’t know what to do. He scanned the hall one last time. His eyes stopped, the team that were sitting by themselves were gone. This time Saeko scanned the hall looking for them.

He froze as he found them, they were standing in front of the 7th door which was now opened, and they stepped through. Saeko was sure they had been sitting in the same position the whole time the exam started, then how did they get a key.

Saeko’s face lit up. “To the door now!” Not letting his teammates question him. He moved ahead of them, to the nearest closed door. Saeko waited at the door for his teammates to catch up. His eyes moved around the door, scanning it from top to bottom.

He pressed his hand on the door, applying pressure. The door moved. His eyes grow wide, and with more strength he pushes the door open.

(While we're waiting on America's arena stories i decided to just throw this here lol :P )

Rook:

There’s an unexpected thud as the crash into the room falling over each other. The room wasn’t almost half the size of the domed hall. The room was well lit. Nothing special about it but the five chess boards in the middle of the room.

Each board made with a different material. On the opposite side of the room was a door, blocking the door a man, another official. He was significantly taller than the last official. His black jelled hair combed sideways. He wore thick square glasses that covered half his face, showing his wiry grin.

He looked down at his watch checking his non-existent watch. Pulling his head back up, he turned to the genins who barged into the room. “Well about time.”

The genins picked themselves up. Embarrassed smiles on their faces except Hide who continued to grin happily. “We were about to call it a day.” The official spoke, nodding his head towards the corner of the room. A team of genins stood there, sneering at them.

“Ok. Let’s get this started. It’s quite simple really, a game of good ol’chess. But there’s a catch, well there has to be right or this wouldn’t be much of a test.” The official moved across his side of the room as he continued to explain.

“One of you from both teams will have to play chess on all 5 boards. Preferably your smartest teammate. While the other two fight it out.”

Both teams took a quick glance at each other. “So whichever team knockouts the other team wins. Which player wins three games out of the five chess boards wins.”

The obvious choice for the chess games was Saeko. But with only a handful of experiences in chess, he was anxious. Both teams took their positions. Saeko and his opponent stood on opposite sides of the chess board. The others were further away, readying themselves for a fight.

Saeko’s opponent threw is arm forward, causing him to flinch. “Good luck.” He held out his hand smiling. Saeko raised a brow, unsure if he was being mocked or if the guy was being sincere. Wearily, he met his opponent’s hand, shaking it, watching his eyes.

A bubble encloses them as they sit down. “This is to make your game less distracting.” The fight had already began, but there was no sound coming from outside the bubble. Everything moved slowly, very slowly. Each punch, kick, dodge and block could be seen clearly.

“Your move.” Saeko tore his eyes away from his teammates. He ran his eyes over the five boards again. Picking up a pawn from the far right board, he moved it a space forward.

Saeko found it hard to concentrate, his fear for teammates, grew into fear of failing the exam, into never getting the chance to become chunnin. Taking short pauses to glance at his teammates. Just like that the game on the far right was beyond saving.

Saeko tried distracting his opponent, but it only took a few moves to finish Saeko off…”Checkmate.”

“Then there were four.”

Saeko tried to keep play confined to the board on his left – taking the contest one game at a time – but his opponent wouldn’t oblige. He made a few moves on that board, then switches to another, then another.

Though Saeko had a free run of the boards, he couldn’t make more than one move on any board until his opponent had replied to it. So, if Saeko made a move on the middle board, and his opponent then moved a piece on the board to Saeko’s far left, Saeko can’t make a second move on the board in the middle -  Saeko had to wait for his opponent to move one of his pieces on it. He’s tied by the same rules as Saeko, of course, but it felt like the odds were stacked in his opponents favour, as if Saeko is the only one restricted.

The game moved slowly and quietly. “Checkmate.” Saeko wins on the board to the far left.  Both genins were nervous. Sweating, fidgeting, both trying to concentrate on all boards at once. Saeko didn’t notice his opponent’s shaky moves. Saeko’s eyes constantly flicking to his teammates locked in slow-motion combat.

Each board a stalemate. Every move taken hit a brick wall. Both genins frustrated. Saeko took a deep breath. This wasn’t like him. He closed his eyes, racing through every move and the most likely outcomes in his head.

His eyes burst open, with a grin his hands moved ferociously, catching his opponent off guard. “Checkmate.” The middle board was Saeko’s. Without pausing Saeko continued, leaving his opponent confused. In his eyes Saeko moved the pieces at random. His eyes spinning in its sockets as he tried to follow Saeko’s moves. Before he knew it. “Checkmate!!”

Everything stopped, the bubble around them vanished. Saeko jumped off his chair leaving his opponent, slumped, head down. His teammates bloodied and bruised, Hide’s smile never faltering. The fight had been going on for hours.

The official clapped slowly. “Congratulations, now please leave I’ve got things to do.”

(Ok lool soooo its been awhile...decided to bring this back mostly to improve on my writing but i had also soo much planned for this to let it go to waste. Now to welcome you lovely lads and lasses back, i put out a little chapter not too long to reintroduce you ...kinda. I do tho really want you guys to read all the other chapters to get a feel for this story ...anyways yea.)

Welcome back:

Some days had passed. The final stage of the exams was soon to begin. The last stage had been delayed to "allow the Genin to recover from the battles and stress of the previous stages", that was the statement released to the public.
But there was a completely different reason. It started when some of the Genin who had failed the previous stages of the exam had not shown up for their check ups. A behind the scene investigation started after a team of finalist from the Hidden Snow had disappeared.
In an attempt provoke public concern and fear, the Kages agreed to continue  with the last stage of the exam while they kept the disappearances quiet.
The hidden hill once again in a frenzy as the sun burned bright that morning. Crowds surrounded the giant arena while they shoved and pushed each other in haste to get a seat inside the arena. Merchants and brokers from around the various nations, all in one place fighting for their voice to be heard among the masses. As they shout out their goods and products like in a common marketplace and attempt to catch wondering eyes.

Every villager able to breathe and walk, wanted to be there, to be able to watch the new batch of promising, some would say prodigies, the future Chunin of their respective village. If the dead could they would.

The Arena was filled, not one seat was left unoccupied, excitement surged through the arena passing like electricity from one person to the other, as 8 out of the original 14  finalist arrive and line up. The arena was circular in shape, the ground covered with trees, rock and debris, to simulate the feel of an actual battlefield. Typical of the Hidden Hill.

The Thunder team Saeko, Hide and Mura, lined up one after the other. Next to them were Genin from the Volcano, two of them to be precise, a result of one of their teammate failing the previous stage. The third team were the unusual Genin Saeko had spotted at the beginning of the exam.

The crowd roared as a famous Hidden Hill Jounin emerged out from one of the giant trees surrounding the Genin.
"Welcome Everyone!!" The Jounin shouted out as he announced his presence. The Jounin flicked the stray strands of hair off slicked back hair into place, as his white teeth gleamed through his lips smiling into the crowd.
"Now the rules for the final stage are simple, the last two standing will progress to the next round, where they will face off on a one on one battle." The jounin paused as spun around to face the genin, with a smirk he continued.
"So yes it IS a rumble, work together or not only two of you eight will have the chance to becoming an official Chunin."
Smiling softly, he turned back towards the crowed, "Now shall we start?" The crowed roared once again in reply. The jounin accepted their response as a yes and with a soft wink he disappeared.

With all eyes on these talented young ninjas the final stage of the exam began.

(An extra long chapter due to the last one being very short...enjoy ^^)

Chunnin Exam begins!:
There was so much noise being made. Loud chatter from all around. Young genin jittered in excitement, their first chunnin exam. Heads filled with confidence and images of becoming chunnin. Genin teams lined up to hand over their chunnin forms to the officials. With each team handing up their forms, they were moved into a small hall.

The hall was circular in shape, with doors dotted around the walls of the hall. The room quickly filled up with eager genin. Head spun round, taking it all in, but there was nothing to take in and disappointment quickly set in as the room was empty, except for the doors and a landing that overlooked them.

Hours went by without any word from the officials. The genins grew tired and weary, some simply dozed off while others were on the verge of giving up all together and leave the hall.

The genins had separated themselves between their villages, setting themselves into small groups around the hall.

The Hidden Thunder genins kept themselves busy, playing small games within themselves to pass the time.

“What about him Saeko?” A Thunder genin asked his teammate, grinning wildly, pointing towards another village genin.  A Hidden Inferno genin.

The Inferno genin wore an impromptu flak jacket, a red jumpsuit, missing a right sleeve, most likely ripped off. A red lapel hung over his right leg.  Red symbol under his left, representing some sort of clan from his village. His eyes moved around slowly without topping once, his dark red hair pointing upwards.

“Looks like he is trying too hard to look like a jounin, mot much to say really. The way he keeps looking round smugly, he probably thinks he has the chunnin rank in the bag.” Saeko answered, reluctant to participate in the game of judging other genins based on looks.

The other Thunder genins laughed between themselves, looking around for their next victim. But stopped immediately. An argument erupted between some genins.

The hours that had gone buy of waiting around, had caused some genins to be on edge, the splitting into groups also caused hostility between the genins, especially those whose villages were not on good terms with each other.

Kunai were pulled out without a moment’s thought, as the arguing genins stepped close to each other, itching to test themselves in a fight.

It was difficult to identify which village genin were arguing. A circle of genins had gathered around to spectate the fight that was about to happen.

“Saeko what’s going?” The Thunder asked again, grinning wildly, getting up to his feet as he watched the commotion.

“I can’t tell, Hide let’s get closer.” Saeko replied with a shrug and moved in closer.

“Damn Volcano ninjas! It has only been a few hours and they’ve already started to cause trouble.” One of the genin shouted out within the crowd.

“Who said that? Come out here you coward!” An aggravated Volcano genin shouted back.

“Looks like we’ve found ourselves a couple of troublemakers uhn?!!” A voice bellowed from above. Amplified by speakers. Every genin instantly froze, turning around simultaneously, all looking upwards at the landing above them.

A short man sat on the edge of the landing, his hair pointing in every direction, with eyebrows to match. His beady eyes danced around its sockets scanning each genin in the hall. He wore a black official’s uniform and had as a small microphone connected through his ear. “I can’t say that was not expected but not this early, I had my money on a few more hours. I guess I just lost 10 ryo.”

The genins all shared a look of confusion, unsure what to think of what the little man meant. “Wait are you telling us that we’ve been stuck here for hours all because of some stupid bet!?” The Volcano genin shouted up in anger. Supported by the other genins. Enraged with thy just heard.

The tiny man laughed. “Exactly!” But stopped to rethink his answer. “Wait no, not exactly. This was…eh merely to test your patience.”  The short official chuckled proud of his excuse.

“Liar!!” Another genin shouted, pointing up at the pint-sized man. “As shinobi of our great nation. We must learn to exercise patience or order to preserver in our line of duty.” The tiny man grinned to himself sure while he expanded on hi excuse, ignoring the genins below.

“Does he really think anyone here is going to believe him?” Saeko asked his teammates, rolling his eyes at the dwarf like man.

“True my young friend, I guess I should stop joking around!” The child sized official replied, his tiny pupils focused on Saeko. The young genin flinched, not expecting the pocket-sized official to have heard him.

The babyish man stood up and raised his little arms. “Welcome!!” His voice louder than ever. Many of genins grimaced, some covered the ears with their hands.

“Now enough with the pleasantries. There will be three exams to test your abilities as shinobi. The fourth will be an old fashioned arena style battle. Your kages will be watching and …well so will everybody else so don’t embarrass yourselves.” He took a deep breath and continued.

“The first exam is very simple…almost too simple. As you can see there are doors with numbers all around this hall, each leading to your next exam. And all you really have to do is get the specific key that opens the specified door for your team. Simples!! Oh and you have 24 hours. Plenty of time.”

Without another word the minute man turned around and vanished leaving his laughter behind. The landing crumbled, crashing onto the hall’s floor. Leaving the genins confused.

Hours passed by. The hall was empty finding these keys were more difficult than they expected. “With 240 genin, and 10 doors, only 10 teams can advance.” Hide giggled looking around at the genins frantically running around the empty hall looking for keys. “We made a mistake, from the moment we entered the hall, we should have paid more attention to our surroundings.” Saeko frowned, sat with his teammates.

Another hour. It began to seem like a lost cause for some, an impossible challenge.

“I found one!!” Shouted a genin, who was standing near the rubble that was once the landing. The genin laughed out loud picking up the he found. Unaware of what he had just done. The hall went quiet all that could be heard was the laughter of the genin.

The genin froze, realizing what he had just done, looking up from his hand where he held the key tightly. Every genin had their eyes on him. Bloodthirsty eyes that focused on his hands.

The genin had no time to regret the decision to announce his finding, without even blinking twice 100 genin attacked.

Short but good.

Still one of the few stories I actually read.
