It's said once voted upon the kage will hold his/her position for a month.
I for one think this is too long of a time for one player to be kage. Now i dont know what responsibilities they will have so maybe a month wont be too much work but perhaps it should be on a weekly basis or bi-weekly. This would allow a preferred kage to not run for the position if he/she knows that they will not be able to be very active that week or for an event etc.
What do you guys think? Kage's for the whole month or do you want the kage's to change more frequently ( i doubt theres gonna be a stone face of every kage so no need to worry about village appearances :P)
-
Even a month could be considered not enough time...
-
That's why Kage candidates will tell you what kind of plans they have, what you can expect of them and how often they can be online. The latter can be automatically enforced and Kage can be removed for being more inactive than promised with a forced reelection campaign.
-
"( i doubt theres gonna be a stone face of every kage so no need to worry about village appearances :P)"
Would be cool if there was a rotating kage-wall. Aka the 5 most recent kages have their faces displayed. Wouldn't require much modelling: I presume it could be done programatically as it would just be an enlargened characters (plain) face.

Even if it will be that way, I'm pretty sure is not gonna be in the first official realease of Shinobi Life Online(I'm not talking about the deathmatch version), we all are waiting, and the basics are priority.

In the real Naruto, Kage last for a pretty long time- I.E: Minato and the Third Hokage, Hiruzen. Minato was a short lived Hokage, with Hiruzen re-taking the reins for a long future. Putting a time-cap on the time a player will happen, but it needs to be longer than a few months. With what Vreg said, automated re-elections will solve inactive Kages.
A solution to a poor Kage - If there is a council of sorts for the villages like in the series, allow majority veto power, allowing them to over-throw the current Kage in place followed by a re-election for the next.
If there isn't a council, simply implement one in the future or put it up for public majority instead. I mean, in reality people revolt if there is a terrible leader who is bad, cruel or refuses to give up leadership, look at the revolutions in the past: American Revolution, the Haitians, French, etc.
TL;DR - Make the Kage term lengths more than 3~4 months: add veto systems for the crappy Kages that /WILL/ occur. inb4 dictatorz.
-
The Kages all need to be in term long enough to actually do something worthwile in the village
-
Personally I think there should be a system where only characters of a certain level can vote for kage, as many bots could be created to vote for someone without actually getting votes from the real communitys

What are you referring to when saying bots?

I personally don't mind a Kage term of 3-4 months or even longer than that. A village council or parliament would be interesting as well. We could actually implement a full-fledged political system with more than just one leader and a council.

Cue the corruption and inside jobs.

this gives the players political might, thats one of the things that really gets me hyped for future Shinobi Life Online. I mean, how cool would it be to actually influence the flow of ur country by manipulating the politics? that would make "charismatic" ppl very mighty in Shinobi Life Online. if we keep this up this game might actually to be as realistic as ours except for the naruto twist.

It's a lot harder to put charisma to use in a game compared to real life. It'll just be people like m4 playing with thirteen year olds minds.

So a kage should be kage for as long as he keeps up the good work. If he is active, strong, good leader i dont see any reason to put a limit to his reign. There should be chosen another kage in 2 cases:1.the curent kage retires
2.He/she is a bad kage.

A kage's reign will last one month. If he's doing a great job during this time, I'm sure he'll be re-elected multiple times in a row.

Why was a month decided

Why was a month decided
Nevermind that, it's not necessarily a month. It can also be longer I guess. Not shorter though.
-
maybe every 2 months a new election? The kage's could do lots of great things in 2 months imo.

But would you like to be stuck with a terrible kage for two months?

This is the charm of a long therm. People have time to see how the kage is, some people may want to assassinate him from shadow because they want the power, or maybe all the villagers will unite to dethrone him because he is horrible. In just one month you have time to do nothing, as a kage and as a player. Also, if there will be a kage once in a month, being a kage won't be something special anymore, will become something common. I would suggest to be even one year thus the player will have time to form an idea about their kage and to make plans related to this, this will mean that choosing the next kage will be a very important thing (so people won't say something like:"Hey, let's choose this month X-kun to see how he is, next month we can try Y-kun.". This way they will become just some sox: try it, wear it or throw it to the trash). So, because choosing a kage will become a very important decision it won't be something decided in one second, it will require some time for finding the suitable person. In addition if a kage is killed or dethroned, the village will be weakened, a small chaos will establish, a good oportunity for other villages or rogues to strike, making the game more fun.
If you will choose to let a guy be kage for one month or so, all those things won't happen and as I said, being a kage will be just humdrum.

I agree with you guys about the council and imo the kage term should be more than 3 months

Meh, if a Kage is in the office for three months, then there is not much opportunity for other people to become Kage. A monthly election is fine imo, Kages could be reelected if they do well in office, so it isn't like theres no chance for long office holdings.

Kage untill he dies of old age or steps down, or maybe gets killed? Full simulation there xD
