This is a new post made in the Development Blog.

You haven't heard from me in a while, my apologies for that. I'm just letting you guys know that the multiplayer design of Shinobi Life Online is as good as complete. The design is coming to life as everything is being programmed.

Multiplayer is not the only thing that is being developed, I'm also developing 2 game modes to go with that multiplayer so that everyone can have fun playing Shinobi Life Online while the actual MMOARPG Shinobi Life Online is being developed. So these 2 game modes are just temporary. It will basically be All vs All and Team Battle. Both modes will feature highscores.

The old character will be replaced with a new general character that will have 3 different skins, so that characters are distinguishable in Team Battle. In the future, there will of course be character customization. Some new ninjutsu will be added to the game, along with taijutsu.

The controls will be changed a bit. Left mouse button will be used for all attacks (ninjtsu, tajutsu) and right mouse button will be used for jumping. The Android version will also finally get released on Google Play Store.

All of the above is meant for the next release of Shinobi Life Online, or Shinobi Life Online 1.2.0 as I like to call it.

Shinobi Life Online Suggestions / Re: Mouse and Attacking
« on: August 27, 2013, 22:44:09 »
Hi, welcome to Shinobi Life Online!

The next release of Shinobi Life Online will have some changes to the controls. There will be 2 types of attacks: ninjutsu attacks and taijutsu attacks. Both will be executed by using the left mouse button. Basically, when there is no ninjutsu active, the left mouse button will make your character do taijutsu attacks.

The right mouse button will be used for jumping. There are no plans for complete 360 movement (with the mouse) yet. The mobile version however, has many more directions to move in, since it's using a virtual joystick rather than keys.

Thanks for answering!

I love the ideas that you are implementing into Shinobi Life Online. I will continue donating larger sums as the project progresses!
Why, thank you kind sir :)

On the Android version there are much more directions to move in since you're using a joystick rather than a keyboard. As long as the mouse has no play in the direction on the web version, then only 8-way direction will be possible. If this limits us from certain things at some point in time, then I don't see why it would stay this way. But for now I'm keeping it the way it is.

Oh and thanks for your donation! :)

I talk in we because anyone that joins the project becomes a part of it, and thus it's not just me. Unfortunately we don't have any extra developers.

Also, I'm working on multiplayer with some extra content to make the release of multiplayer more interesting.

906
Thanks, but that won't work for Shinobi Life Online. We have our own system.

907
Damm those graphics look fine!
Exactly, it's what I hope to achieve with Shinobi Life Online.

908
i was wondering to if instead of a element jutsus what about thinks like bugs and things like that?
Probably sometime, there is more basic stuff that needs to get done first.

909
will sand be usable ever?
The ability to control sand was given to Gaara by Shukaku. Since Gaara nor Shukaku are present in our alternate universe, chances sand manipulation ever comes are slim.

You must know that there are so many other jutsus that fit more in our universe. But who knows, if some day the game is so big that we're just looking for new content, then yes sand will definitely be an option.

910
Definitely lightning, but as the sage of our universe, I will master all natures.

I saw those pictures, and not to be a dick, but they are far from the quality standards of Shinobi Life Online.

This example is to Shinobi Life Online's quality standards:

This is what you made:

If you want to contribute to Shinobi Life Online's landscape, you'll need to improve your skills to an amount necessary for creating something with the quality of the example I showed.

912
So you are going ahed with the fight in arenas and get money for winning thing?
http://www.shinobilifeonline.com/index.php?topic=51.msg139#msg139 has all you need to know about what is going to happen next.

Eventually yes, there will be arenas, etc. But definitely not at the next release, the next release will be just about fighting. No items, no money,...

This fighting will take place in a couple of landscapes rather than a fighting arena.

Landscapes like this:

Shinobi Life Online Suggestions / Re: Ideas for the history!!

I was talking about an agreement of peace, but agreements are not always kept. The tension between these villages will always be present and from time to time incidents may happen.

I'm kinda liking the  story going like this - So all the heroes thing with the sage of six paths and the jinchuriki and all that history from the naruto universe and then the 10 tails creates an Armageddon kinda thing where it kills everything on the planet except for the other tailed beasts(the beasts get extracted from the jinchurikies ) and the ten tails goes and hibernates in the moon and couple of thousand years later shinobies start anew and the tailed beasts roam around creating havoc and that kind of thing and  the ninjas seal them in burial sites and the criminals (people like the akatsuki) try to unseal and take the beasts under their control and the villages protect the burial sites and the player starts of as a person whose memory is wiped by these criminals and start anew....(note: I just made that on the spot so no criticism please....)

The Biiju thing intrigues me cause I had an idea about 9 completely new villages that are all built on top of 'Obelisks' that have one of 9 Tailed beasts sealed in them. Most people grow up thinking nothing about why their villages are built where they are but the real truth is that the village forefathers knew of these obelisks where the Biiju were sealed and decided to build their villages on top of them so they could 'own' the tailed beasts. The new Universe could be at a constant state of war over each others Obelisks.
I like the idea where villages are built upon sealed beasts (not tailed beasts, just beasts). And I wouldn't go for a constant state of war, rather an agreement of peace between these villages after many years of war.

This is the server model we're going to start with for Shinobi Life Online:

I have no money for getting dedicated servers that support 1000 players simultaneously. This is why I'm working on a system where players get to host the game servers. This means each server will hold maximum approx. 60 players. There will be a central database which will hold all data about the Shinobi Life Online universe (this includes all data about all the players). These game servers will communicate with that central database, in a secure way I designed, to load the dynamic universe of Shinobi Life Online. Those game servers will also load and save data about the players on them. So when you play on a server for 30 mins, disconnect from that server, then connect to a server that has more players on it, your character will be in the exact same state as you left it in the previous server.

Each game server will be responsible for one hidden village in the Shinobi Life Online universe and it's surrounding area. So when you choose to host a game server, you have to choose which one of Shinobi Life Online's hidden villages you want to host. I don't know if you read this in the forum, but there will also be custom villages. Every clan leader can build a custom village for his clan if he has enough resources. If you're member of a clan that has a village, then you automatically become a member of that village. The clan leader who built the custom village has automatic authority to host a game server for his village, but he can also promote other members of his village to have authority to host a game server for the custom village. Custom villages can only be hosted once at a time, while there is no limit on the amount of game servers responsible for one hidden village. Aside from the villages, there will also be open areas that can be hosted.

PVP is only possible outside the walls of hidden villages and in the open areas. Being member of the same village does not prevent the possibility to attack each other where PVP is enabled. Custom villages are special though, outside their walls everyone can attack each other without limits (difference between levels). A custom village can get attacked by players who are not member of that village. Once these foreign players breach the walls of a custom village, they can attack members of that village (or each other) within the walls of that custom village.

Don't expect all of this in the first multiplayer release of Shinobi Life Online though, that release will have: http://www.shinobilifeonline.com/index.php?topic=51.msg139#msg139

Finally, if Shinobi Life Online gets enough funding one day, we will ditch this system and use dedicated hosting. This will give us reliable dedicated servers that can host something like 1000 players simultaneously in big areas.
