Is my character required to have an Asian name?
Also, will there be a name generator (like WoW)?
-easy way to do it:
  find a list of first and last names(http://www.20000-names.com/male_japanese_names.htm)
  Randomize, combine(?)
  Check pre-existing

We could do something like choose your first name and we pick a last name for you. It needs to be discussed, we don't know right now.

Thats a really good idea.

Maybe for a additional uniqueness, you could have a 'hardcore' server where your characters facial features, skin tone, name, clan(if applicable) and village are chosen for you.

Just to make this clear, we're using first and last name for a more serious approach, rather than "fictional" names?

We talked this over at the team and we think an available generator at character creation is the best option. Mainly because of last names being linked to clans and because we want people to be able to choose their names.

No, you won't have to use the generator.

Well, if our last names are linked with our clans, which is probably the case, and you don't choose your last name then you are essentially not choosing your clan, am I wrong?

So, you'll gonna choose only your first name when you create your character, right? The last name depends of the clan name, and even if you leave the clan (for those that are going to be rogue ninjas) you'll have that same name till you die, am I right?

You can either chose both your names, either chose only your first name and have an in-game generator pick your last name from a pool of existing last names in game
